Biography

Early Life

Tahti was born 21 years ago, on a cold night, to the Randaja Family. Her name means "Star of Wanderers." Or "Wandering Star," depending on how you translate it.

She is the 27th grandchild to Mamma Runo, head of the Randaja Family in Toivoa. As her family is closely tied with The Church of Imkael, she has grown up in the temples and was raised with a strong sense of purpose and community.

Her closest friend and confidant is cousin Kuu, who was born the same night as she and mirrors her looks like a twin would. Alongside Kuu, Tahti explored a variety of hobbies and experiences. But where Kuu joined his mother in service to the Temple of Imkael, Tahti sought higher education.

School

Tahti left without a degree but with some good stories.

The Changemaker

Tahti arrived in Nausha alongside her new employer, Seatoad Coin, and the fighter, Ruzyd. Briefly after arriving, Tahti was enmeshed in a plot by a drug trader, Larry "Natch" Lief, and Pitney Bones. She was accosted by members of The Longstrider's Consortium and remanded to prison with 5 others. A shadowy persona calling himself "The Agent" offered the 6 not-criminals an avenue to escape undeserved punishment and serve the interests of the Crown. Tahti and the others agreed, and they were broken out of prison and directed to the boat of Larry and Pitney Bones—then called Nebula.

Eventually, the 6 managed to commandeer the ship. They entered a deal with Pitney Bones to transport her to Endland Pointe. The ship was renamed Changemaker.

In a reverse-uno-ambush, the crew of The Changemaker assaulted a Bourbonic ship hunting Safira's bounty. During the assault, the enemy summoned a leviathan. The creature latched on to The Changemaker and carried it away to another plane when it was banished.

The Changemaker sails new extra-planar seas.

The Flight Risk

Pried from the hands of a demon-dealing bounty hunter, the ship literally lifted into the air in the effort to find new ownership. The landing was a little rough, but ultimately successful at bucking the old crew and finding a new one. Flight Risk got a new name, was cleaned of corpses, and patched up. Coin outfitted a friendly flag to represent the crew.

Skills

Tahti had many tutors in her childhood, and she was exposed to a wide variety of subjects. Classic studies, like History, Religion, and Herbalism, were supplemented with less common interests, like Bondage, Combat Ballet, and Arcane Tasting. She wields a rapier and fights with the speedy, targeted movements of a rogue.

She has learned to sail from companions Safira, Krystal, and Isaac.

She mastered mal riding in Ostrea like she was born to it. She rides a battle-trained moor'mal named Death Talon, who had been raised by the Slashing Winds tribe. Death Talon remained in Ostrea to care for Joshua, the rescued mook.

She employs some modest magic that she learned at school or was a part of her heritage:

  • Blessing of Imkael
  • Shadow Armor
  • Chill Touch
  • Spare the Dying

She became a shaman of Ostrea, along with the Crew of The Changemaker, by challenging The Feyr in The Mountain. (The Ostrean Wayfinder feat.)

Other abilities include:

  • Distant Crystal Sight
  • Druidcraft
  • Guidance
  • Thaumaturgy
  • Legend Lore

Tahti improved her perception skills after being hunted by the burrowing guardians of the Earth Spirit, Jateekam; and ambushed by the invisible grung 'Petals' from the House of Flowers; and seeking giant dwarves in dense clouds of magic and chemicals. Her senses have been heightened, particularly in her immediate environment.

Tahti temporarily takes skills from her deceased family—by summoning and wearing their deathmasks. While in meditation in Trance, she borrows proficiency with 2 new tools or weapons each day. Commonly chosen skills: bolas, nets, artisan tools, navigator tools... About once a day, Tahti can host a stronger influence from her deceased family. Under that influence, she can walk partially in the realm of the dead—becoming intangible in the material plane.

When the crew broke for a season of recovery, Tahti went home to study in the temple. She earned her priest's tabs and learned to channel a modest level of divine magic.

Family

The Randaja Family, led by Mamma Runo, left their place in Imkael's realm and settled in Toivoa approximately 450 years ago. Originally a Shadar-Kai family, they have history, status, and community in the homeland. Mamma Runo brought her household to Toivoa under the name Randaja (or "Wanderers"). They have always cherished their culture and kept the ties to their history alive. The family is dedicated to Imkael and live in Their service without exception.

Living in Toivoa has transformed the Randajas into something different from popular stereotypes of Shadar-Kai. Imkael's elves are historically described as cold, emotionless, long-lived servants. In contrast, the Randajas are passionate, open people with a shockingly high mortality rate for elves, and an equally shockingly high birthrate. The family easily welcomes new bonds, regardless of race or background. The newest generation has several half-elves and adopted members. They encourage exploration and curiosity, as living a rich life is their first commandment. While generally Lawful and Good, their first alignment is to Imkael and their second is to family.

Alive

  • Mamma Runo: Tahti's grandmother, head of the Randaja Family. An herbalist. She is heavily scarred and blind in one eye.
  • Uncle Festus: His passion is explosions, fireworks, fire. He uses pain to stay anchored in Life, in between explosions.
  • Lurchi: An exceedingly tall firbolg. He has been a member of the household since Mamma Runo first arrived in Toivoa.
  • Kirsikka: Tahti's mom. She loves plants (especially awakened, carnivorous ones). She is most passionate about her family.
  • Antti: Tahti's father. He loves dramatic performances, literature, and family. He also loves to sneak out for chariot races.
  • Aunt Eevi: Loves love. She is responsible for most of the halfblood cousins. She lost a beachside house to "the Butterfly."
  • Aunt Nissa: Loves cooking and jokes. She feeds the family at the main house, but beware any meal with the word "surprise" in the title.
  • Aunt Safi: A leader in the temple of Imkael. Kuu's mother and boss. She is passionate in her stance against the heretical teaching of Imkael.
  • Cousin Joona: Age 12. A music prodigy.
  • Cousin Kuu: Age 21. Loves sword fighting. Tahti's brother by another mother and closest confidant through childhood.
  • Cousin Liam: A naughty boy who wanted to go to the Fey Wild.
  • Noora: Tahti's oldest sibling. She loves hunting, and is often gone on long trips.
  • Jari: Tahti's youngest sibling. A little brother who loves collecting unusual pets.
  • Cousin Merlo: Seafaring free-spirited adventurer who appreciates Life's finer gifts.
  • Cousin Reenah: Smart, capable sister to Merlo.

Deceased

  • Elea: Tahti's older sister. A poet, who was voluntarily mute to improve her perception skills. Elea died in battle when she was 21 and Tahti was 8. Her deathmask is an intricate spiral that follows the golden ratio.
  • Cousin Kalevi: A druidic sailor with a lightning fetish. He was a hero with tempestuous power. He chased storms and eventually died by his third lightning strike. His deathmask has the bright red scar that marked the first lightning strike he ever felt in Life.
  • Cousin Karena: An alchemist who loved IEDs, deadly poisons, and strange potions. She ruined her voice while inhaling fumes.
  • Cousin Helka: A black market messenger and dancer of international renown. She was strict about her art and had a sharp tongue.
  • Cousin Erasmus: A minotaur (thanks, Aunt Eevi) who dedicated his life to working as a caretaker to a dungeon/monster preserve. Died defending his charges. His mask has horns at the temple.
  • Cousin Graceling: A bunker-making survivalist. Real anxious person, but good insights on environments and potential dangers. Died by spiders. Deathmask has a wrought iron gate pattern.
