Endland Pointe
Once a bustling port city on the eastern coast of Wresten, Endland Pointe is now a haunting testament to tragedy and despair. The skies above the city are perpetually overcast, casting a pale, sickly light over streets littered with debris and the charred remnants of homes and businesses. The air is heavy with the stench of decay and sulfur, a lingering reminder of the demonic invasion that ravaged this once-thriving hub. The docks, once alive with the cries of sailors and the clatter of trade goods, are eerily silent, their piers rotting and covered in ominous scorch marks that no one dares to scrub away.
The invasion was orchestrated by Xokoreth, a demon of unimaginable malice who tore through the city with legions of horrors at his command. The city's defenders, unprepared for such an assault, fell swiftly, leaving the civilians to suffer gruesome fates. Those who survived bear scars both physical and mental, their minds haunted by the infernal horrors they witnessed. The echoes of screams still seem to linger in the dark corners of the city, and some claim that the shadows themselves watch and hunger. While Xokoreth has vanished, his corruption lingers, seeping into the very bones of the city and warping its remnants into a place of misery.
Abandoned buildings line the streets, their windows shattered and doors hanging ajar, as if the city itself is crying out for salvation. Once prosperous businesses now stand as crumbling monuments to what was lost. The market square, where traders once hawked wares from every corner of Toivoa, is now a battleground of desperation. Looters and gangs fight viciously over the scraps that remain, while those who try to eke out an honest living often fall victim to the brutality around them. Food and water are scarce, and trust is an even rarer commodity. Few dare venture out after dark, for fear of both Human predators and the lingering demons that stalk the streets.
Possession is a grim reality in Endland Pointe, as remnants of Xokoreth's infernal army prey upon the weak-willed. Many survivors lock themselves away, fearful of neighbors who might suddenly turn into bloodthirsty monsters. Strange symbols, drawn in ash and blood, appear overnight on walls and cobblestones, their meanings a sinister enigma. Some say the city itself is alive, twisted by the demon’s influence, and that it hungers for the souls of the desperate. Temples that once served as sanctuaries are now defiled ruins, and priests who remain struggle to hold onto their faith in a place that seems forsaken by the gods.
Amid the despair, one beacon of hope flickers faintly in the form of The Tiger’s Prowl, a tavern and inn run by a resilient half-tabaxi named Ace Tiger. Ace, with his tawny fur and piercing green eyes, is a charismatic figure who welcomes anyone willing to abide by his strict rules of peace within his establishment. The Tiger's Prowl is a rare refuge, offering meager but honest food, strong drink, and the fleeting comfort of a roaring hearth. Ace's determination to provide sanctuary in a city steeped in darkness has earned him the loyalty of many, and whispers suggest that he’s actively working to find a way to cleanse Endland Pointe of its corruption.
Despite Ace's efforts, Endland Pointe teeters on the edge of collapse. Many believe the city is cursed, its doom sealed by the footprints of Xokoreth. The tides of Wresten's western coast lap at the shores with a mournful rhythm, as if the ocean itself mourns the port's fall. Travelers who brave the journey to Endland Pointe do so at great risk, drawn by rumors of forgotten treasures hidden in the ruins or personal vendettas against the demonic remnants. Yet few leave unchanged, if they leave at all. Endland Pointe is no longer a city of the living—it is a city of survival, a liminal space between the mortal realm and the abyss.
