Seatoad Coin

"Wanna see me play 21?" - Coin, meta calling his shot.

Coin

Coin is a Grung and the captain of the Changemaker, the pirate ship featured in the Toivoan Trainwreck campaign.

History

Born to the tribe of Grung called 'Seatoad', Coin was an active deckhand and navigator. His relationship with the tribe was tumultuous, due to his frequent 'off-the-record' trades. The Seatoad would slowly decimate in numbers, as less and less Grung returned from their ventures to loot and barter across Toivoa. Eventually, Coin would split away from his tribe to pursue his own business ventures.

He eventually heard of a special coin, one with supernatural luck associated with it. Since then, he's made it his mission to find that coin. He would go on to establish the Changemaker, with help from Tahti and Ruzyd, recruiting Krystal Latte, Safira, and Bryn Gemflower along the way. They currently work on behalf of the Longstrider's Consortium.

Changemaker

A consortium job would lead the Changemakers to travel across Ostrea. There, Coin & Co. would find themselves mastering the skill of Ostrean Wayfinding. During this voyage, Coin survived an assassination attempt by mysterious grung sent in the night by the House of Flowers.

An oracle, discovered by the Changemaker crew, informed Coin of the whereabouts of a 'special coin'—one currently in the possession of a grung named Warty Barreltoad located somewhere in Shau.

Following an encounter with Jahteekam, Coin proved himself a disciple of the land, having his skin hardened and transformed from blue to slate gray by Jahteekam directly. His poison also became altered to now radiate a subtle heat.

Post-Ostrea

The Changemakers fled from Ostrea following an encounter with Xurrud. Their ship was left behind in the escape. Unable to travel, the crew settled in Nousha taking local Consortium jobs—leading to Coin's acquisition of the haunted house on 123 Merry Way.

When Silas was displaced from the blue palace throne, The Changemakers were tasked with recovering and releasing him from Xurrud's domain. Coin and his crew collected the three Chrononacrum keys, obtained by traveling the Fae Wilds. With all keys in hand, they spelunked through the Chrononacrum and defeated Xurrud, saving Silas in the process.

In Search of Frenzy

Following the retirement of Isaac and Krystal, The Changemakers recruited a young paladin named Saisen. The group agreed to locate and stop the source of a new drug called Purple Frenzy. The Changemakers traveled across the northwest coast, destroying shipments of Frenzy and learning that Sagheos was its source. Along the way, Coin struck a deal with the leader of the Worldeaters, securing himself a fleet of nearly 50 Worldeater vessels to aid in a siege against Sagheos' Lair.

While still in Shau, Coin crossed paths with a familiar face: Warty Barreltoad. Coin convinced Warty to part with his stolen Lucky Coin, in exchange for 5% of Coin's Corncob Stand profits as well as assurance the production of Purple Frenzy would be ended.

Personality & Affinities

Appearance

Coin is a short Grung, toned slate gray. On his torso is a large tattoo of the moon, surrounded by snowy mountains with clouds scattered around his shoulders.

He wears suspenders with business pants, as well as golden goggles around his neck. At all times, Coin has a coin somewhere on his person—generally hanging from his mouth. He frequently refers to it as his 'current lucky coin'.

Personality

Coin is a bossy capitalist, but he also acts with empathy to his crew and avoids actions that harm civilians or innocents. He is infinitely curious about the moon, an experienced herbalist, a proficient mapmaker, and a dicey but successful negotiator. He is also abnormally lucky.
