Kai Infinera (a.k.a. Kai the Bard)

Kai was a famous bard in the Dusael capital of Veron who ventured to Agrammon in search of new tales to sing about. When Kai arrived, he became directly involved in the Summoning of Balanor. Kai was invited to join the Agrammon International Investigation Agency due to his skills in taming and communicating with demonic entities as made evident during encounters with Balanor's supporters.

Early Life

It is unknown where Kai was originally born, but the Tiefling's earliest memories are from his time in the care of a Half-Elf family in Veron, the capital of Dusael. As a Tiefling, Kai was not always well-received across the city, but never let this deter him from going out and meeting new people. While many were initially put-off by Kai's approach, it was rare that anyone walked away from a conversation unhappy with the young Tiefling. Kai's charisma allowed him to meet numerous people throughout the city, and saved him from trouble on several occasions.

Becoming a Bard

As an adult, Kai spent a lot of time in various taverns throughout Veron, not due to a penchant for drink, but for a desire to meet as many people as possible. It was during one of his days at a tavern that he witnessed a bard telling tales of the War of the Red Dragon. Kai was taken by the tale; he had, of course, heard of the War of the Red Dragon numerous times before, but the way the bard presented it made it sound like a magnificent story, rather than a piece of history. When the bard completed his song, Kai approached him and spent the remainder of the night talking and learning about the profession of bards.
The following day, Kai purchased a lute and lyre, intent on becoming proficient with both of the instruments. He spent his days and nights practicing and playing, often seeking out more proficient musicians to tutor him. Many were impressed by not only his willingness to improve, but the speed at which he learned his instruments. It was only a few years until Kai began regularly performing at taverns across the city, becoming a popular figure in Veron.

Departing Veron

Kai -- now a famed musician throughout Veron -- was requested to perform for the Emperor of Dusael. While many would have been overjoyed at the invitation, Kai respectfully declined. He believed that a bard's music prowess was only one part of his skill; he needed to weave tales and tell stories of events that even the Emperor was not involved with. Knowing that he would not experience events worthy of song staying within the city, Kai ventured out toward Agrammon, hoping to find an experience worth singing about for years to come.

The Demon Charmer

As he journeyed to the city, Kai met Ila Keamoira, a skilled Druid from the Circle of the True Beginnings. After being taken by her ability to communicate with nature which led to the defeat of several bandits in the Druid Preservation, Kai learned she was also on her way to Agrammon and offered to join her in her travels.
Per his wishes, Kai became wrapped up as a critical figure during the events that led to Balanor's arrival in Agrammon. Initially joining the Rowdy Boys during their investigation within the Expedition Layer, Kai and Ila met other members of the group including Vanadren Baelhal, The Stone, Drakkeir, and Solomon. Believing that the group of them would lead him to various stories that he'd write songs of, he decided to stay with them.
During an investigation in the Agrammon Magic Research Facility, Kai encountered a demonic entity that he was able to clearly understand and had a conversation at length with it. Following the conversation and the execution of the demon, Kai learned he could understand all of the demons within Balanor's army, and regularly used this to his advantage. The most notable instance of this was during a battle in the Expedition Layer where Kai was able to convince a large demonic hound to turn on the Cult of Balanor, clearing a way for the Rowdy Boys to make their advance deeper into the layer. Many of Agrammon's Internal Security Force witnessed this event and began referring to Kai as the "demon charmer" due to his talents.
