Young Life
While he may have been born in the Versnir Republic, Solomon does not remember much of his time there. Abandoned at an orphanage in the City of Drest, Solomon never met his birth parents and spent much of his childhood and adolescence causing trouble in the city streets, much to the chagrin of the orphanage's headmistress, a Half-Orc by the name of Granelda. When he was thirteen, Solomon met Zetran, a young Half-Elf with an extraordinary penchant for magic. The two chidlren would frequently take advantage of Solomon's quick thinking and Zetran's trickery to cause mischief to the city's citizens, rarely getting caught in the process. As the two grew older, what began as mischief soon turned to profit. Solomon and Zetran would use a mix of illusion magic and quick wit to rob local establishments.
As their skills improved, so did their confidence. At sixteen, the two learned of a location of an elder citizen's vault, housing the riches he had amassed throughout the years. Despite careful planning and nearly flawless execution, Solomon was caught, while Zetran fled.
Solomon's capture was the turning point in his life; the one who foiled their plans was a monk of the Monastery of the Enlightened, a monastic order dedicated to disconnecting from one's physical presence to maintain their temperament and ignore physical pain. This monk -- a human named Davek -- had no ill feelings for Solomon; by only looking into the young man's eyes, he could see that Solomon had been plagued by a difficult life.
Monk Training
In what would be an act of pity, Davek took Solomon to the Monastery of the Enlightened to train under The Enlightened One, a Half-Elf who claimed to find enlightenment through dismissing physical desires. At first, Solomon found the Enlightened One to be nothing more than a crazed hermit who created some type of cult following; but as he spent more time at the temple, that perspective would soon change.Solomon as a Monk of the Enlightened Order was nothing short of agonizing. The Order believed in punishing acting upon whims with corporal punishment -- often sending its pupils into weeks of solitary, forced starvation, or beating them. The thought process was twofold: One, break the habits of following one's whims; Two, create a resistance to physical pain.
When Solomon turned eighteen, he was a rare pupil privileged enough to begin combat training. With Davek as his dedicated mentor, Solomon learned how to fight using his body as a weapon, and using weapons as an extension of his body.
Between the training and the indoctrination, a decade of Solomon's life was spent only in the Temple of the Enlightened. Once his decade of forced residency ended, he was allowed to travel the world, so long as he maintained the three tenets of the enlightened: Deny Self, Deny Destruction, Promote Growth.
Assassin of the Ventali
As he had little understanding of the world, save for his life in the Versnir Republic, Solomon asked to accompany Davek the next time he departed the Temple. Davek agreed, but warned Solomon that his life was a dangerous one and by following in his footsteps, he'd be entering a lifestyle not easily escaped. With nowhere else to turn, Solomon agreed to support his mentor and followed him to the Merchant's Confederacy, a collective of city-states focused on promoting trade throughout Tilorum.Davek was a high-ranking member of a group known as the Ventali Guild, an organization of hired killers disguised as a merchant caravan. Regarded for their professionalism both in their mercantile and underground methods, the Ventali Guild became known throughout the confederacy as the Silent Skulls to those unfortunate enough to meet their blades.
Solomon accompanied Davek on several assassination missions, and was quickly regarded as someone with high potential -- one who may even exceed Davek's skill. To test Solomon's true capacity, the Ventali Guild dispatched Solomon to track down and eliminate a merchant named Gantrek who recently set up shop in Agrammon. After forging an identity as an apothecary selling potions, Solomon made his way to Agrammon under the alias "Viktor."
The Fall of Agrammon
Solomon -- under the guise of Viktor -- followed Gantrek's trail to Agrammon's Gladiator Layer where he watched as his mark entered an arena match against an imposing Half-Orc and Dragonborn. The fight was decidedly one-sided, and within seconds, Gantrek and his companion were murdered for sport in the center of the arena. While there was a sense of satisfaction in the completion of an easy job, that would be short-lived as something caused the cages within the arena to break open and release hounds into the arena. As response to containing the situation was stagnant, Viktor jumped into the arena and began supporting the two gladiators in warding off the hounds. He was able to help maintain the situation until Agrammon Internal Security forces arrived and ultimately detained him. Without significant enough evidence to restrain him, Viktor was released, but ordered to stay within the city; with nowhere to go, he accompanied the two gladiators to Ada's Respite, a popular tavern in Agrammon. Viktor continued to accompany the two, along with an assortment of individuals who would eventually come to be known as the Rowdy Boys and supported them in several key endeavors while investigating what occurred in the Gladiator's arena. His work led him to discovering a cult dedicated to reviving an unknown entity known as Balanor. He was a key element in locating the cult's stronghold and eliminating the cultists inside. To his surprise, he found that the Ventali Organization was on the cult's payroll, and the assassination he had been dispatched to accomplish was part of a cover-up to ensure that nobody learned of the cult's existence. Not long after this revelation, his old companion, Zetran, brought news that the Agrammon Office's local handler, Maldur, was preparing a force to silence Viktor. Rather than wait for Ventali agents to find him, Viktor rallied his companions and led a raid against the Agrammon Ventali Stronghold, where he confronted Maldur and forced his allegiance, assuming the role as the Agrammon Handler in the process. Ventali Agents of the city now at his command, Viktor used his influence and personal investigation techniques to assist the Rowdy Boys in uncovering Ezreal Iantris as the benefactor behind the cults, and was one of the first to come to the defense of Agrammon during Balanor's attack on the city through Emilia Lumere. Alongside Maldur, Davek, and several Ventali Agents, Viktor stood against the cult's forces and directly fought against Titania following her infusion with Balanor. After securing the city, Viktor was one of several individuals recruited to the Agrammon International Investigation Agency.Employment
