Taralas III

Taralas III is a small planet in the Taralas System, a black hole star orbiting the Zeta Halanet dark matter star which is owned by the Hyperion Federation.

It has a low gravity and very strong magnetosphere despite it's mostly inactive core. The planet is very cold as black holes emit little light in comparison to actual stars. The surface is continually bombarded by gamma rays from the dark matter star, and uncharged antimatter particles. Charged antimatter particles such as positrons are deflected by the magnetosphere. This can cause some strange rock formations and compositions.

Arguably the most valuable part of the world is the scientific opportunities available on such a unique world near an extremely rare dark matter star. The HSA studies the planet mostly from orbit despite the high value of the magnetic monopoles which could be extracted. They also send drones down to the surface and sometimes underground in order to get a closer point of view allowing them to also study monopole behaviour on a world with such a strong magnetosphere.

This planet is also one of the most powerful fortresses in the system defending it from attacks from pirates or other star nations, as well as spies from said star nations. They have a number of shipyards that can lunch patrols to almost any area of the system promptly. The system is constantly monitored from several Tachyonic Radar stations located in several orbits around this world, as well as in other orbits around the system. These can perform closer scans on nearby ships and obtain precise information relatively easily, making espionage operations in the entire system difficult.

The low gravity and very cold nature would make mining very easy, but the HF has made mining illegal. They would likely lift the restrictions after they have done sufficient research on the phenomena on this planet. As the surface isn't habitable they would likely have to provide PPE to any workers sent to the planet.

It is not known how the planet has the strong magnetosphere despite it's inactive core. The leading theory suggests it could have formed through precursor faction interference, having magnetised the planet. This is relatively consistent with the determined age of the system and world. It is not known why they would do that, and no precursor artifacts have been found on the world. Other theories suggest that the magnetic field formed under the intense conditions of the supernova but this theory is not accepted because other planets orbiting black holes with magnetic fields have not been recorded in other systems. It might have even formed due to the magnetic monopoles deposits.
