Taktarak Islands

A collection of floating islands on the planet of Mauray. Like on Tebburus, they float on the Taidakic Field with Aetherium.

The Taktarak Islands are owned cooperatively by a nation of Suons, Elves and Eptha. The magic ability of the latter 2 species combined with the technological ingenuity of the first allowed them to become relatively advanced in both technological and magical fields. Their floating island has comparatively few megastructures compared to the rest of the world though, making Hyperunreactive Alloy very rare. There were still a number of structures with magic runes.

Some suons would also learn magic. This nation could deploy very powerful Magitech because of this, but that is incredibly rare. They used aetherium to make air vehicles and establish an air force despite the very low tech nature of their society. They have managed to take over several floating island clusters, and many ground forces would see the fully functional airships as magic. They have also seen minor success in taking over a few sections of land due to their magitech and powerful Taidakic airships. They take sections of the ground in order to record more megastructure runes and give them a better understanding of magic. Due to this resource, they continually launch invasion or espionage operations to the ground to record these. When they own the area, they can investigate it mmuch more thoroughly than spies and uncover more runes.

The islands can vary slightly in terrain. Most of them are forestlike and covered with trees, usually having one or more water resivoirs (such as small oceans or lakes). This allows the eptha to create large houses in the islands. Surprisingly to many, there is still rain in the islands as on Mauray the rain forms at a higher altitude.

Culturally, the islands are bent on cooperation. The suons and magic species have extremely different physiologies; they cannot easily adapt to the other's conditions. Suons have attempted to remedy this by having some islands with both types of life; carbon based and magnetic monopole based; but this did not prove to be successful. Instead, they allow the magic species to sip food from other islands to their own, and have large trees to help them construct homes in the bioluminescent canopy. The eptha do a similar thing, but allow suons to build houses on the ground as long as they do not violate their idea of a green society that lives with nature.
