Territories

The High Kingdom claims most of the lands of eastern Sirene, which encompasses ten semi-independent realms. They also lay claim to some parts of the souther Wild Coast region, including the city of Northport.

Military

While each of the realms of the High Kingdom maintains some level of independent military force, these are constrained by the laws governing the realm. National defense lies in the hands of the Iron Legion, a military force made up of Legionaries from each of the realms, who swear loyalty to the High King and serve for a set number of years, usually at least three years, though some members go on to serve for life. Every citizen in the High Kingdom is expected to serve in the Legion at some point in their lives, typically between the ages of 18 and 25, though this service can be waived in exchange for a hefty tax, usually only afforded by noble families. The various companies of the Legion are made of men and women from various provinces, creating a sense of shared identity between the people of the kingdom that is integral to its lasting success. Though the work is hard, the pay is fair, and those who serve in the Legion have the honour of knowing they have contributed to the safety of their homeland.

Religion

Citizens of the High Kingdom typically worship the members of the Eight Great Divines, though unlike Daskar worship of the Lesser Divinities is not frowned upon. While not outlawed, worship of the Dark Trinity is looked upon unfavourably except in certain circumstances, and they are more likely to be appeased than worshipped.

Foreign Relations

Daskari Empire:
The High Kingdom retains an uneasy truce with the Empire of Daskar, predicated largely on the vast amounts of trade that pass between the two nations. Lately, tensions have run high, occasionally resulting in border skirmishes, though outright war is not expected in the immediate future.   The Borderlands: The High Kingdom has ambitions to claim the Borderlands, but has been rebuffed by the strategic difficulty of invading the mountainous and heavily forested land, as well as by the tensions with Daskar.   The Wild Coast: The High Kingdom ostensibly claims most of the southern lands of the Wild Coast, however these claims are only partially enforced, as internal struggles have lead to a lack of manpower able to enforce the will of the High Kingdom upon those lands.
