    They've got Bess
    Expedition

This session was intended to be a one shot.   In the first session the group was sat in the tavern in Lower Peak. The group currently resides there, but each has different backgrounds and not everybody has been there for long. As you're enjoying an evening with friends, in walks the local Blacksmith, carrying a blood covered hammer, with several fairly serious wounds. He announces "They've got Bess."   It turns out Goblins attacked the forge and took his daughter, and after a small scuffle they overpowered him and dragged her north. The group agree to help recover Bess and follow the tracks north for about 12 hours until they are forced to rest in the forest. During the night they are come upon by a large group of Kobolds who are headed in the same direct as the group, possibly headed after the same thing as the group. Before the Kobolds can do anything, somebody fires an arrow, and all hell breaks loose. The party almost goes down here, with the blacksmith coming upon them during the fight after getting a little healing, donning his town watch armour, and following after you. After a tough fight that sees him injured again, the party leave him in their camp and continue on the trail of the Goblins.   Mid morning the next day the group is out of the forest, and the ground has turned much rougher, less lush plains and forests, more scrubland, looking deserty in places. Finally, the group sees where the tracks lead. A great cave set into the mouth of a great lion head. Inside the group finds a small tribe of Goblins guarding the cave, with several mages and a Goblin Boss in the deepest depths of the cave conducting some form of vile ritual on Bess. You had no mage with you, but Glenda believes the ritual resembled a section of an old book she read, about a ritual to either force something from a being, or force something into one, but you cannot be sure beyond that. From the Boss the party found a Scimatar +1, then headed home with a weeping Bess, collecting an overjoyed Blacksmith on route.   (1)

    The Recluse
    Expedition

Mayor Alariel gathered the group together to be presented to Pasht, Herald of Vedras. Pasht explained that due to the ongoing war far to the South, the Ochal Confederacy is unable to deal with several emerging threats to the north. The Baron has recruited three groups, including ours, to deal with Goblin, Kobold and Gnoll invaders. They have each used the opportunity of a weakened Confederacy as a result of the war to take lands for themselves in the Fallen Barony. Our group is tasked with finding and killing the Goblin King, in the hope that this will destabilise the advance of the Bloodeye Tribe of goblins. Pasht was only able to give one lead - the location of a Goblin deserter known only as "The Recluse".   Following brief preparations, the group headed north and located The Recluse's hideout, and were surprised to discover he was well spoken and civilised, as these things are measured amongst Goblins. For this reason was he driven from his Tribe, and forced to lived in hiding. Following a brief interegation, the group learned of the location of one of the Goblin King's major forts. Departing on peaceful terms with the gift of an amulet from The Reclude, the hideout suffered a terrible explosion, with ghostly laughter on the air. It is assumed nothing survived aboveground, but our group was caught in a cave collapse caused by the explosion and dropped into a isolated crystal cave underground.   The Puzzle Cave, as the group came to call it, was home to a long deceased adventuring party, who through arcane means were animated. After dispatching the undead party, our group discovered long disused wizard's aparatus, and managed to reactivate an old teleportation circle, which cast them through the ether into the Dream Spire, overlooking their hometown of Lower Peak.   (2)

    ONE SHOT - Gramps Rises
    Expedition

A crack team of 5 complete strangers were hired by the Spelunker's Guild to investigate what caused Gramps to rise from his grave. After a bit of investigating and battling various undead they discovered a set of stairs down down to an ancient cave network where they discovered an entry to the depths of the ocean and Sahuagin attempting to ressurect a long dead Baron. Despite a valiant effort they were unable to prevent the resurrection, so were forced to destroy the newly living creature, causing the rest of the Sahuagin to flee. Unfortunately the group were unable to seal the entrance to the ocean, sadly reducing the reward offered by the Guild, but overall a successful expedition.   (3)

    The Mad Wizard's Maze
    Miscellaneous

Materialising on the magic circle of the Dream Spire, the party is confronted by the tower's owner, the Arch-Mage Jildor. Before our intrepid 'heroes' could introduce themselves, Jildor cast them into a mystical maze full of powerful magical artifacts, vast quantities of gold, and very dangerous creatures.   The party fought their way to the centre of the maze to face the being at its heart, a young Green Dragon. After a very brief, very bloody, and very fatal encounter, the group awoke back in Jildor's Tower, unharmed, but also without the loot they had collected. It would appear the entire maze was an illusory test, a test that the party failed.   Jildor imparted a little wisdom upon the party, granted them use of his teleportation circle, and warned them of the true threat to the Ochal Confederacy - The King in Stone.   (4)

ONE SHOT - Retake the Fort
    Military action

Rubbleholde Retreat had been occupied by the Brotherhood of the White Rose, a mercenary company under service to the Baron, for the past eight years. The Brotherhood was contracted to build as well as to defend the outpost in the middle of the narrow Gransano Valley to blockade the goblin hordes that lurked in the surrounding mountains, preventing raids on relatively defenseless border settlements. Until recently, this initiative was successful — goblin raids had ceased, and traders felt empowered on the road through the valley, which was made safer by patrolling members of the Brotherhood. Weeks ago, however, Rubbleholde Retreat fell to the forces of the Bloodeye Tribe, a force of goblin that tamed a flock of griffons to aid them in an aerial assault of the outpost. Much of the Brotherhood of the White Rose was slaughtered, and the few remaining members were forced to flee the outpost.   Major Alariel, on behalf of the Baron, recruited a band of mercenaries or adventurers to drive off the goblins from Rubbleholde Retreat. By infiltrating the keep, the band was able to swiftly and efficiently defeat the occupying Goblins, though not without the defenders calling for reinforcements. Unfortunately, the Ochal Legion was unable to hold the Fort against repeat counter attacks, and it quickly fell back into the hands of the Goblins. Interestingly, the Goblins were accompanied by a force of unknown Orcs.   (5)

    The Fall of Fort Teef
    Military action

Following the lead given to the party by the Goblin Recluse, the party located the Goblin stronghold known as Fort Teef, to the north of Lower Peak. After thoroughly scouting the surrounding area, the group entered by stealth through a giant spider filled cave network that the Goblins appeared fearful to enter. Through stealth and subterfuge the group were able to accurately ascertain the strength of the Goblin force in the Fort, and realise it was far too strong to assault directly. A poisoned water supply and sabotaged watch tower greatly helped tip the odds back into the balance.   After a long drawn out battle whose outcome was uncertain throughout, the party emerged bloodied, battered, but victorious. However, once again the mysterious Orcs were present in Fort Teef, appearing to be acting as an advisor to the Goblin Boss.   Whilst the destruction of Fort Teef was a very successful tactical action, the party forgot they were there to find evidence of the Goblin King's location, and slaughtered everybody inside, leaving no survivors. Once again, the party has no leads.   (6)

    Hunt for Clues
    Expedition

Following the defeat of the goblins in Fort Teef the party returned to Lower Peak bloodied, but victorious. However, in slaughtering every goblinman, goblinwoman and goblinchild in the fort, they destroyed their opportunity to find information on the location of the elusive Goblin King.   After a little rest and recuperation, the group returned to Fort Teef to search for survivors. The only living things left in the Fort were 2 Worgs trapped in their enclosure, and weak with hunger. In a moment of wickedness, the group tossed several Goblins they had previously poisoned into the Worgs, and watched as the Worgs gorged themselves on the spoiled meat, sure to suffer the same awful end as the Goblins had prior. After a little searching the group found 10-15 tracks leading away from the Fort to the south, which the followed. As they slowly walked away from the Fort they heard the howls of Worgs in agony in the distance behind them as the spider venom the party used to poison the Goblins began to affect the doomed Worgs.   The group followed the trail for many hours south, then north west, before reaching a narrow mountain pass. In this pass they were beset by Giant Boars, which they quickly dispatched. However, a Wereboar caught them in the act and immediately attacked, attempting to save the lives of his remaining kin. In his last moments after the party brutally put him down, he reached for his falled kin and swopped his final breath, a lament for the fallen. It would seem the party will murder anything and everything in their way, in the name of peace.   Shortly thereafter the party came across the entrance to a large cave overgrown with huge thorny vines, with the tracks leading inside.   (7)

Mini-Campaign Part 1 - The Hills of Crooked Sleep
    Disaster / Destruction

For 7 years the mage Umeli of the Nine Hands has been researching a monolith under the Crooked Hills. Recently the following note has been discovered in her home, which has thrown local authorities into panic - "The monolith is the key. It’s the true source of all the dreams, and the physical manifestation of the strange devices I’ve dubbed cyphers. I’ve also found other machines, more durable: relics. I’ve taken a few of these and fashioned my nine hands into something truly impressive. The monolith isn’t aware; it just is, forever seeking to fulfill a purpose. It lacks oversight or understanding of the world. Could I become its link, its overseer, and set order to the rambling progress of millennia? Yes. It should be me who claims the Arcana of the Ancients. Then I can finally have my triumph. And my revenge.”   A group of adventurers has once again been recruited by the Spelunker's Guild, this time tasked with putting a stop to Umeli. Venturing below the Crooked Hills, the group discovered a tribe of Goblins corrupted by an ancient techno-arcana called Steadfast. These Sleepwalker Goblins have become a linked conciousness, and ensure nothing leaves the Necropolis below. After brokering an uneasy alliance with the Sleepwalkers the group is allowed to continue deeper, and comes across the Grand Gallery, a metallic corridor in the shape of a large circle some 60 miles in diameter.   End Part 1.

Note: This mini-campaign occurs several years before the events in the main campaign. The Artificer in this group is the same character as the artificer in the main campaign.   (8)

    A lead, at last!
    Military action

Once inside the cave, the party realised that it was occupied by a different tribe of Goblins than they had previously encountered. Tougher, better trained and equipped, this Moonfang Tribe were a far more deadly threat. The party made the first move and attacked the outer Goblin guards. After a challenging hour long running battle, the group once against emerged victorious, standing in litres of their own blood, and the corpses of many blue skinned Goblins.   Deep in the cave the party found one last group of Goblins, led by a large Goblin Boss. A brief standoff occurred. The party not wanting to engage for fear of further Fireballs, and the Goblins not wanting to engage for fear of death at the hands of these bloody handed murderers. After a brief exchange of words, a rough truce was established. In exchange for passage out, the Goblins gave information on the location of the Goblin King, located somewhere called Nagdan to the north. Following the exchange the party also came to suspect that the Goblins were allied with, or working for, the Orcs that had previously been encountered.   Upon returning to Lower Peak the party briefed the Mayor and received a suitable reward for their efforts. The Mayor also briefed on the progress of the other two groups of adventurers in service of the Baron Vedras. The group sent to deal with the Kobolds have reported several successes, and the Half Dragon leader of the group expects success within the month. However, the group dealing with Gnolls has not been heard of since they began their task.   Finally, the group checked in on Blacksmith Lokkon, and asked after Bess. She is spending time with her Aunt in the Vedras City, after developing an unusual skin condition. She has begin to develop a reddish marks on her left arm, reminiscent of lizard scales.   (9)

MINI-CAMPAIGN PART 2 - THE HILLS OF CROOKED SLEEP
    Disaster / Destruction

Our team of adventurers began to explore the Grand Gallery, discovering ancient machines and a production line for cypher corrupted Wights, which they came to know as Cyberwights. Deep beneath the Crooked Hills Umeli has been experimenting on both the long dead who were interned in the temple, and captured citizens from nearby towns. It appeared that Steadfast and the Sleepwalking Goblins under its control was directly opposing these Cyberwights, who appear to be working for Umeli or the Singing Monolith to spread Cyphers around the countryside. Since the arrival of the Sleepwalker Goblins the Cyberwights have been trapped in the Gallery, putting Umeli's plans back.   Whilst exploring the Gallery, the Artificer was struck by the Messenger creature that circles the gallery at supersonic speeds, knocking them 150 feet and leaving them barely alive. It is speculated this is where they got the nickname 'train wreck'.   The group's Artificer tech support found and consumed a pill that seemed to connect them to a distant intelligence that drew power from an alternative to the Weave of Iae. He gained an understanding and proficiency with Ancients Arcana, whih would serve him well in the years that followed. They used this new-found knowledge to interact with 5 Steadfast spheres that the group found deep in the Gallery, and was granted knowledge of how to 'slip' through artificial sunlight. Using this new ability, the party was moved into a huge underground chamber, miles across filled with a multitude of geometric shapes. In the centre of this chamber is an amber glow, the origin point of the otherworldly music the group has been hearing since they arrived in the region.   (10)

    Three Mile Hole
    Discovery, Exploration

The party set off to find the missing group sent to investigate the Gnolls in the Raven's Peaks. On the journey they were assaulted by an ethereal being, severly wounding Logan and leaving him with a lasting mental injury that healing could not touch. The group discovered the corpses of the missing group, and confronted an old reclusive woman about their deaths. She became defensive and demanded the party leave, stating the dead group had attacked her and her sisters, so she defended herself and killed them. A fight ensued, and the woman shape changed to her true form, a Night Hag. Upon her death her spirit appeared to depart her body and escape on the wind.   Investigating the surroundings of the Hag's home, the group discovered a natural shaft approximately three miles deep. Ominously, there were corpses strewn about, and footprints leaving the hole. With nothing further to be done, the group reported back to Mayor Alariel, and set off to return to Lower Peak. On the way, Logan felt himself getting worse, and asked to be taken to his old friend in Vedras City for help, before he slipped into a coma.   (11)

MINI-CAMPAIGN PART 3 - THE HILLS OF CROOKED SLEEP
    Disaster / Destruction

Finally breaching the final vast chamber under the Crooked Hills, the group proceeded towards the Singing Monolith at its core. Along the way they make unlikely allies of a group of lost souls known as the Killist who had been dragged here from some unknown place by Umeli's experiments with the Monolith. Encountering strange and dangerous creatures, they searched for Umeli's camp and with the aide of the Killist, attempted to disable her machines to disable the Singing Monolith. However, this brought Umeli's ire, and she confronted the group to stop their meddling. What followed was a long, bloody fight of attrition - Umeli's arcane abilities and powerful relics of a lost time pitted against the numbers and tenacity of those who opposed her. After a terrible struggle, Umeli was defeated, and the Singing Monolith slowed.   Over the next 24 hours the Singing Monolith rose and forced itself out of the ground of the Crooked Hills, causing low earthquakes in the surrounding lands. Today the Singing Monolith hovers 35 feet above the ground. In the years after the raising of the Singing Monolith, caches of ancients-arcana began to appear across the world, and millenia dead machines returned to life.   End of mini campaign.   (12)

    Return to the White Rose
    Life, Trauma/ Loss

Whilst returning to Lower Peak Logan's condition continued to deteriorate. Before slipping into a coma, he told the group of an old colleague of his who is immune to mental manipulation. Mayor Alariel arranged an Ochal Legion galleon to take them to Vedras City where they met up with an old friend of Halwick and Logan, name Raymonde.   Raymonde, who was now the defacto leader of the Order of the White Rose, asked for the groups help in return for assisting Logan. A rival mercenary company, Die Eisenfalke, had been taking advantage of the Order of the White Rose’s recent misfortune and killing or recruiting her members. Raymonde asked for help ‘dealing’ with the leader of this company, be being that went by the name of Qhuss. That party swiftly agreed, and travelled to the Qhuss’ location, only to discover that the members of Die Eisenfalke appeared to be some sort of hivemind thralled to Qhuss. After a vicious battle most of Sie Eisenfalke lay defeated, and Qhuss’ broken and bloody body lay before the group. Qhuss turned out to be some unknown humanoid creature with purple skin and 4 tentacles protruding from its face. With the psionic control of Qhuss broken, Die Eisenfalke lay down their arms to mostly be recruited by the Order of the White Rose later on.   Living up to his promise, Raymonde transferred some of his immunity to mental manipulation to Logan. Whilst it was insufficient to offer him long term protection, it was enough to rise him from his coma and break the Hag’s influence. Before departing back for Lower Peak, Logan was gifted a pair of ancient ‘6 shooters’ by Raymonde, weapons of a lost age that are unlike anything able to be produced in the modern age.   (13)

    Expedition into Nagdan
    Expedition

As the culmination of the campaign against the Goblins, the group, assisted by Herald Pasht, ventured to the recently located Nagdan. Utilising Pasht's powerful magics to teleport directly to the site, the group is ambushed by a large force of Goblins, who clearly knew they were coming. Pasht reacted quickly and pushed the group into the stairs descending to Nagdan, and turned to slow the goblin horde. As the group tumbled down the steep stairs, the tunnel was collapsed behind them by Pasht's magics. The scene they found in Nagdan is not what they expected. The place was an ancient catacomb that had been overtaken by Goblins for their nefarious purposes. The whole dungeon was filled with magical fog that limited visibility to 30 feet, though the goblins often appeared to have the ability to see through it.   Immediately upon entering the dungeon the group is confronted by a large warband of Goblins, and are forced to fight for their lives. After a brutal conflict that saw several party members unconscious, the Goblins were defeated, and the group able to press on.   Four traps were set off, all by the headstrong but less than wise Gunslinger, Logan. The first was a Flesh to Stone trap that began calcifying his body, that he barely managed to resist, and the second was a pressure plate trap that activated several ancient guardian statues, that attempted to rend the party limb from limb. Next, Logan activated a trip wire that filled the corridor with magical flachette darts. Fortunately he had wandered away from the party on his own, so nobody else was injured. Finally, Logan found a small stack of gold coins on an ornate red carpet. He immediately picked them up, causing the carpet to animate and envelope him, attempting to snuff the breath from his body. The party rushed to his aid, plunging their blades through the carpet and into Logan's flesh, leaving him bleeding and on death's door.   The group barricaded themselves into the animated carpets alcove and settled in for a night's rest, tensing their wounds and preparing spells for what was to come.   (14)

    Disaster In Nagdan
    Disaster / Destruction

Now, dear readers, this session is not for the faint of heart. For the first time since our plucky adventuring party formed, true disaster struck.   Following their preparations for combat, the group ventured deeper into Nagdan. They immediate came across a ritual chamber with 4 fire wreathed Goblin mystics maintaining a black portal to some far-off realm. Through the portal emerged a Black Pudding, an acidic ooze creature that immediately set upon the party. The group faced their greatest challenge so far, as the Pudding continuously divided when attacked, and the mystic's fire shields made attacking them incredibly dangerous. After expending most of their resources and abilities, the mystics were defeated, and two Puddings remained. Unfortunately, in a stroke of base cunning, the puddings cornered Crusher, the group's Cleric, and dragged him into their forms. His screams echoed throughout Nadgan as he was slowly dissolved by the creatures, with the only part of him or his equipment to survive being his magical weapon.   Following a respectful moment to mourn their friend the group pressed on, minds clouded by a desire for revenge.   In a strange twist of fate, the group heard howls of rage from a caged prisoner, a captive of the Goblins. The jailer was a monstrosity unlike anything encountered before. A great drowned wight with a magical aura that turned the air in the lungs of any creature close to it to water. The group swiftly dispatched the Drowned One, and recovered the prisoners, the Barbarian Eragon. Eragon turned out to be from the same tribe as Crusher, and agreed to join the group to avenge his kin.   With their new companion in tow, the group pressed on once more, and came to a spider's nest. In the centre, on a stone plinth was an obvious trap, a great green ruby. Logan activated the trap, causing a magical effect that transmuted much of the party's gold into copper. How predictable. The trap disturbed the nest, and the group fought a veritable horde of Phase Spiders, before barricading themselves in once again for recuperate from their exertions and losses.   (15)

    The Lich under Nagdan
    Military action

Following their rest, the group stealthily (for what little that means with Logan around) listed to a large door. Beyond they heard the conversations of a group of orcs discussing the plans of the Goblins, how they even failed to control their own dungeon, and how their plots have come to naught. They did say that the Goblins have one final shot with an outside chance at success.   ignoring the Orca for the time being, the group took a different passage, and encountered a group of goblin Wizards were conducting an arcane ritual over a chained and warded tomb. Their guards referred to this tomb as “the Lich”, but when the group interrupted the ritual, a Teifling emerged with no memory of her previous life, agreeding to join the party to help locate Pasht and assist each other escaping.   The group then tackled the orcs. Very disciplined, the orcs engaged the party with ranged weapons and spells, whilst stepping through a portal on the back of the room, telling the group they would tell the King in Stone of this. Unfortunately, none of the orcs were captured or killed for interrogation.   Seeking a place of respite, the group entered a large circular chamber with a sign stating "Beware the cleaners." The group was almost immediately attacked by a Gelatinous Cube that dropped from the ceiling high above. Whilst a relatively simple fight, the group was nontheless separated, leaving yours truly, Hawick Swiftquill, as the only party member not rushing for the chest in the centre of the chamber.   (16)

    The Snowglobe
    Metaphysical / Paranormal event

Logan was of course the first to reach the chest. He reached inside and pulled out a fist sized snow globe, and peered at the forest scene inside. A pulse of a magical energy was released and encompassed everybody except Halwich.

    Day 1
The party stood on a forest road with no knowledge of how they got here. Extending to the horizon in both directions, either direction seemed as good as the other. Picking a direction at random they set off. A long while later the group came across a friendly halfling woman name Jenny Jiggings. Jenny has a few character querks which appeared to annoy the group, primarily that she moved incredibly slowly. She told the group of a village further along the road, and journeyed with the party. After several rage filled hours, the group decided to carry Jenny against her will. For some reason this involved tying her up. When they reached the village there was no sign of Jenny Jiggings, the adorable, Halling woman.   The group quickly found the Tavern and settled in for the night. The town was incredibly welcoming offering free food, board, and even companionship. Several half the party seemed to trust these intentions. Logan and Glenda took several villagers to their room for the evening...
    Day 2
Exhausted, the group stands upon a forest road with no memory of how they got there. Their last memory was enjoying the hospitality of the village. Deciding to return to the village to see what is going gon, the group set off down the road. Near to the village the group comes across 10 zombies emerging from a grain field, and quickly dispatched them. Investigating the grain, it appeared to have a reddish tint and to be growing in blood soaked ground.
    Day 3
The group stands upon a forest road with no memory of how they got there...   Confused, they return to the village and are told a number number of villagers are missing, though nobody appears to have an interest in where they have gone. When the group began investigating, they made a startling discovery. The villagers are all eyeless, with blackened skin and tentacles. Casting their thoughts through their memories, every villager they had seen in this place looked like that. Clearly some foul magic had been at play that befuddled their senses, to finally become clear now. Glenda and Logan had slept with these creatures.   Drawing their weapons the group slaughtered the beasts. They went from went from building to building, rooting the monstrosities out from their hiding places, and ending their threat for good.
    Day 4
The group stands upon a forest road with no memory of how they got there...   Seeking answers one last time, and looking to end whatever beast had trapped them, the group headed towards the village. They found Jenny Jiggings tied to a tree, kneecapped and run through with a plank of wood. Logan cut her down, but realised his length of rope was missing, and her wounds matched Glenda's weapon.   As they approached the village they came across 10 corpses of villagers, cut down where they stood. Somebody had come across them in their grain fields and butchered them.   The village itself was a scene of nightmare. Many buildings still burned, and the rest were daubed in deranged writings writ in blood. Worse still, everywhere the group looked were the corpses of innocent villagers lay mutilated. Many of the men carried arms they clearly had no experience with and were massacred by a better trained foe. The womenfolk were cut down defending their children. Many died using their bodies as human shields to protect their offspring.   Taking the time to read the writings on the buildings, the group felt faint. "Flesh so fine, so fine to tear, to gnash the skin; skin to strip, to plait, so nice to plait the strips, so nice, so red the drops that fall; blood so red, so red, so sweet; sweet screams, pretty screams, singing screams, scream your song, sing your screams..." It went on and on, madness writ large for all to see.   In their exhausted and vulnerable state the group did not see the monsters who performed these terrible acts until it was far too late. Abominable versions of themselves approach from the shadows and added yet more corpses to the tally on innocent dead they had reaped in this place.   (17)

    The Magma Heist
    Miscellaneous

This session was a one-shot as a player was away. Set several weeks earlier in the timeline as the group is resting in Lower Peak, the are approached by a mysterious gnome Artificer and are hired to retreive a magical anvil from an abandoned underground complex for a 1000g reward. As soon as the group agreed the gnome cast a fire breathing spell upon them and teleported them across dimensions to the Plane of Magma with instructions of how to find the complex.   After crossing several lava flows the group reached the entrance to the complex, and were ambushed by a large group of Fire Snakes. Easily enough despatched, there would have been no problem, except for the momentary arrival of 2 Lava Children, who dragged a wounded Logan into the molten rock flow. Luckily for Logan the protections their employer cast upon them afforded him some measure of resistance to the heat, and he was only badly disfigured, rather than immolated.   Once inside the complex the group dispatched a Salamander guardian, spent 30 minutes arguing over a harmless pair of boots, and outwitted the 2 dumbest guardian statues in history, to finally enter the inner forge. Within they discovered that this place was perhaps less abandoned than their employerer had led them to believe.   Within the inner forge they discovered a red dragon wyrmling. Logan of course immediately shot it. A short fight ensued, and the dragon fortunately was able to escape, but it was able to warn it's master, a Dwarf Artificer who they would later discover to be name Tumneas Icefinger. It turns out that their employer knew Tumneas would be present in the forge, and approximately once ever 10 years he sends an unwitting group of pawns to attempt to kill Tumneas and steal the magical anvil. After a long negotiation the group decided to help Tumneas to exact revenge upon their employer for sending them on a potential suicide mission, and returned to the Matereal Plane with Tumneas' Iron Scorpion, magically miniaturised and placed in the box, as was requested of the anvil. Their employer, exuberant that his plans had finally worked, immediately paid the group their 1000g, and dismissed them. As they walked away they heard their scorpion return to it's true form and exact their revenge upon the unsuspecting gnome. The group received their parting message from Tumneas, expressing his thanks, but warning them never to return.   (18)

    The King Falls
    Military action

Upon taking a few hours to rest and heal following their ordeals, the group prepared themselves to continue to search for the Goblin leader. Pressing south through the thick fog that obscured sight through the dungeon, the group encountered a vast cave filled with corpses of many wargs and their handlers. These creatures appeared to have started to died of thirst, trapped in the cave by an unknown force.   The next chamber contained perhaps the greatest surprise that Nagdan held for the group. Bound in the center of the chamber, suspended over a portal to the Plane of Air, was an Oni. The creature had been summoned and trapped by the Goblin King's minions to maintain a series of scrying pools, allowing the King to see the actions of his enemies from afar. In order to prevent the group reaching the King, the magical bounds were loosened and he was compelled to erect a Wall of Force to prevent entry to the throne room. This loosening of restrictions allowed the Oni to fill Nagdan with Guards and Wards - the magical fog that obscured vision, also prevented the Goblins from moving around the dungeon. The group freed the Oni, which dropped the wards, and opened the final passage to the Goblin King.   In a vast, pillared chamber sat the Goblin King and his inner circle of elite guards. The King seemed to be resigned to his fate, his plans crushed and his allies fled. All that remained was a bitter monologue and a final showdown. In his final moments the King lamented that the group had consigned the Goblin kingdom to death, and that they were only here to try and survive the thing that was eating them.   Following the final showdown, the group looted a veritable horde of treasure and artifacts. As the group prepared to escape Nagdan, the unthinkable happened. Glenda, part of the group since the very beginning, betrayed them by stealing the activation stonesof the exit portal and left, stranding the group in Nagdan. Fortunately after some searching and experimentation, they were able to activate the portal and teleport to Pasht.   Upon materialising on the ground above the collapsed entrance to Nagdan, they discovered a huge field of burnt and lacerated Goblin corpses. At the centre was a bubble of energy, holding Pasht in stasis, following her mortal wounding at the hands of the Goblins. Half a mile away the remains of the Goblin horde began to rush towards the group, intent on murder. Rescuing Pasht, the group set off for the closest known teleport circle; Fort Teef. For 30 miles the Goblins gave chase, until the party, exhausted almost beyond their ability to continue, stood on the circle and vanished.   (19)

    Lower Peak in Flames
    Military: Battle

Arriving in Lower Peak, the group were faced with a terrible sight. A third of the town was reduced to ashes following an attack by a Goblins. The attack was disorganised and was routed by the herculean efforts of Mayor Alariel, who stood at the centre of the horde, an incandescent being of flame and wrath, and shattered their will to fight as she destroyed their bodies with fire and lightning. However, such excessive displays of arcane might do not go unpunished in The Wheel, and Alariel was left scarred and mutated by Arcane Corruption. Despite her injuries she debriefed the group, and informed them of important recent events.

    • Lower Peak attacked by Goblins.
    • The town of Eastholme destroyed by Kobolds.
    • The town of Caracara in open revolt.
    • Orc scouting parties sighted to the far north.
    • A Gnoll envoy arrived and was being held in cells below the temple.
    • Perhaps most importantly, the Baron Vedras had been missing for a ten-day.
Following the news of the missing Baron, Herald Pasht revealed that she was actually the Baron, and Pasht was the cover identity she used to allow her to operate freely and covertly. Before departing for Vedras City, she thanked the party for rescuing her, and granted them her authority in all things regarding the security of the Ochal Confedercy.   Taking only a single evening's rest, the next morning the party visited the Gnoll envoy, and found the Gnoll druid, Grac Ashenclaw. Grac explained that his tribe, the Onderhawe, had broken away from the a servitude of their god, and subsequently the King in Stone, and now sought allies amongst the so called civilised races. Grac invited the party to travel with him to the home of his tribe, also called Onderhawe, and speak his his leader, Dro Godslayer.   After a 2 day journey eastward to the Raven's Peak mountains, it was discovered that Onderhawe was under siege by savage cultists and their demonic gnoll masters.   (20)

    The Hags of Boar Woods
    Expedition

In the weeks that followed the defeat of the Goblin King, monsters and evildoers began to move back into the Boar Woods and surrounding hills. Mayor Alariel had repeated reports of a mysterious magical aura that confused the senses and caused travellers to become disorientated and lost in the woods. She recruited a small party of relatively unknown adventurers and dispatched them to solve the problem.   After many days wondering, the group finally began to make sense of the twisted pathways of the aboard Woods, and discovered the enchantment had been laid by a coven of Green Hags, who had used the recent turmoil to abduct villagers in the aftermath of the battle and sacrifice them to some demon in an attempt to summon it and harness its power. After a difficult battle, the group was victorious and ended both the threat to Lower Peak, and the enchantment over the Boar Woods.   (21)

    The Siege of Onderhawe
    Military: Battle

In order to reach Onderhawe and explore options for peace and possible integration into the Ochal Confederacy, the siege of Onderhawe must be broken. The group set about this task with grim resolve, attacking the rear of the besieging force and mercilessly cutting down the I'll disciplined rabble. Though they were a great and savage mass, they were badly trained and equipped, and fell in vast quantities to the blades and spells of the party. With the sealed gates of Onderhawe to their front, canyon walls to either flank, and the terrible ferocity of the group to their rear, the besieging force was utterly destroyed, with the dead piled high before the day was won.   The Siege of Onderhawe was broken.   The group entered the underground city and were greeted by a sight most unexpected. The city was enormous, easily housing a million Gnolls. additionally, where Gnolls were though little more than savage beasts, the construction of the city was a wonder of primative ingenuity. Entire city blocks carved into vast stalagmites, interspersed with huge colourful tents to the front. Deeper into the city were districts of homes, tenples and palaces built of a yellow stone, a sharp contrast to the deep blue/black of the surrounding cave structure. Through the centre of the city flowed a deep underground river, giving life to Onderhawe. Throughout the city great crystals larger than houses and mega-fungus both glowed with an inner blue luminosity, lighting the city in a perpetual half light. All told, Onderhawe is one of the most beautiful sights one may behold for 200 leagues in any direction.   (22)

    Eulogy of Mortals
    Metaphysical / Paranormal event

News quickly came to the group that Dro Godslayer, leader of the Gnolls, would not be able to speak to them for some time. For the next month they explored the surrounded areas, trained with the gnolls, and learned esoteric new knowledge.   When the time for negotiations finally came, Dro Godslayer and the group began working through details of a potential alliance between the people of Onderhawe and the Ochal Confederacy, with the end goal of the Onderhawe becoming the seventh Barony. The Gnolls offered information on the greater threat of the Stoneskin Orcs, and requested protection from the Orcs that they may unify the remaining Gnoll tribes, be that through negotiation or force. In exchange for this, the Onderhawe would remove the threat of Gnoll raiders from the Raven's Peak mountain range. The party, empowered by the Baron Vedras, agreed that this was an acceptable exchange, and an alliance in principle was formed. However, the Dro requested an act of good faith from the party. He described to the party the legend of The Prophet of Noctin, and the Eulogy of Mortals, the powerful artifact carried by the Prophet. The Eulogy was now free in the world again, and Dro requested the party travel to the Osterode Valley and destroy or capture the Eulogy, for the safety of all Autumna.
