The Somniraptor is an ethereal entity, a spectral terror that dwells within the overlap of physical existence and the realm of dreams. Its physical manifestation is a sinuous, serpentine form that swims effortlessly through the air, as though the world around it were a tranquil, unseen sea. Its shimmering, iridescent skin shifts continuously through countless hues, flickering like moonlit water and giving it a near perfect camouflage against the cloak of night. It has a pair of multifaceted, starlit eyes that gleam with an eerie, mesmerizing glow, and a mouth lined with sharp, transparent fangs that seem to be made of frozen dread itself.
Within the dream realm, its form is mutable, changing to embody its victim's deepest fears. In this ephemeral landscape, it commands the power to manipulate the dream, to engineer an environment that fosters terror and despair.

Behavior

The Somniraptor is a lone terror of the night, shifting between the physical world and the dream realm with frightening ease. It thrives on fear, drawing sustenance from the raw psychological terror it induces in its victims. It selects its prey among sentient beings capable of experiencing vivid dreams and rich, profound emotions. When its chosen prey succumbs to sleep, the Somniraptor infiltrates their dreams and begins to create a terrifying dreamscape that reflects their darkest fears.
Once ensnared within the dream, the victim is pursued by the monstrous manifestations of the Somniraptor until they reach a state of psychological exhaustion. The more fear the prey exudes, the stronger the Somniraptor becomes, feeding off the energy of terror.
Only when the prey is thoroughly drowned in fear does the Somniraptor physically manifest in the waking world, appearing silently beside the victim's resting place. Yet, it does not seek to physically harm its prey. Instead, it feasts on the emotional energy emitted by the fear-stricken victim, who usually wakes up believing they had just experienced a horrific nightmare.

Defenses and Weaknesses

The Somniraptor's power is near absolute in the dream realm, its strength dependent solely on the depth of its prey's fears. However, in the physical realm, it's less potent, its form seemingly unstable and transient. Its most significant weakness is light - the vibrant beams of daylight or any potent artificial source can repel it.
A Somniraptor finds it difficult to infiltrate the dreams of those with strong emotional control or mental discipline. Individuals who can master their fears, those who are capable of lucid dreaming, or those trained in mental combat can resist or even banish the Somniraptor from their dreams, effectively neutralizing its influence.
