Mental characteristics

Personal history

placeholder26 - 47 Years Spent in Stasis Samira was born into a life on star faring and adventure, or at least that's what all the holo posters told of her mother, the freighter captain, Lekka. Samira never knew her father, having left when she was born. Due to her mothers busy role as the ships captain that they lived on as well as worked, Samira was mostly raised by her older sister, Talia . The age difference between them often meant Talia was often mistaken for her mother, and in actual fact took on more of the responsibility than her real mother did.   The life they were in was at some times dangerous. At one point when pirates boarded the freighter in an attempt to steal the ships cargo the young Samira was caught in the crossfire and hit with a volley of rapid fire weapons, completely destroying her legs. She survived thanks to quick medical attention and the hasty application of cybernetic replacements.   Samira was still quite young when Lekka met Kel'ran. She wasn't aware of the conflict going on in the wider galaxy so to her, Kel'ran was just an alien, much less a member of the Sirasion Empire. Kel'ran treated her like one of his own and she grew fond of her new stepfather. She was overjoyed when both he and her mother announced she was going to have a baby brother. named Zid'jan. The process would use both parents DNA and an artificial incubation tank, a process some in the Sirasion Empire found controversial. However they did not let this stop them.    ________________________________________________________   When Kel'ran took the whole family on a vacation to a tropical pleasure world and on the way home they were all lead to the brig of a space station they were passing through she thought nothing of it until the Sirasion guards opened fire on her mother and then younger brother, Zid'jan.     This was a moment so traumatic for Samira she herself struggles to recall much of it aside from Lokai, the rogue battledroid, swooping in to save her and her sister from meeting the same fate. Samira quickly became attached to Lokai, looking at him as her saviour, believing that no harm would come to her if she stayed close to him.   Shortly following this, she lost Kel'ran to the Alliance. This only strengthened her attachment to Lokai as a guardian protector.   After the loss of Lekka, Zid'jan and now Kel'ran, Samira and Talia had settled into their own apartment, where Talia worked feverishly to support them both. Meanwhile, Samira spent most of her time with Lokai. The sentient droid not only acting as her protector, but also as her best friend. She would regularly paint on his armour and play various childish games with him. What she didn't realise was by doing this she only guided the droid's path to full sentience, where he was becoming just as attached to her as she was to him, which made it all the more traumatic when the SAF showed up, demanding Lokai be turned over to them for causing damage to Alliance property. in an incident that happened long before the two had found each other.    Samira and Talia did their best to hide him, but eventually the SAF found Lokai. While he fought defiantly, he was eventually destroyed, along with the rest of the apartment. Samira was utterly devastated, she stayed and wept next to the droids remains for several days, refusing to eat or drink.   Eventually when Flynt and his crew came to clear up and repair the damage from the attack she had to be dragged from the remains by her sister.   ______________________________________________________   Samira was surprised to find out her and Talia would be living onboard the ship of Flynt and his crew. It was at this time she began to learn more about the wider galaxy, the conflicts going on, the Sirasion Empire and the Galactic Alliance and alike, as well as the freedom fighter group her and her sister were now a part of. She became well liked on the ship, the tight knit crew was more of a family than she had ever had, though she severely missed Lokai, the crew did their best to make sure she felt welcome onboard.   Samira would start to prove herself useful, running messages around the ship and bringing crew food and drink. Much to Talia's disdain, the crew even taught her how to shoot asteroids from the ships gun turrets. She liked to help out where she could. Her and Talia fitted in very well, feeling the most at home they had ever felt. However her biggest surprise came on her second birthday onboard the ship when Flynt unveiled his latest plan for the group.   He lead her to the ships workshop and unveiled from a massive sheet, the new and improved Lokai. Samira was overjoyed to see her old friend again, it was as if no time had passed at all. Lokai still remembered her, his memory core remaining intact. Flynt had built the droid up not only for Samira, but as an instrumental part of his plan to liberate a number of prisoners from an Alliance station, including Kel'ran.   _______________________________________________________   When Kel'ran was rescued he contacted the Sirasion Empire and had his former position reinstated. He stayed with the freedom fighters for a few weeks until it was time for him to head back to the Sirasion Empire. He offered Samira and Talia to go with him. While Samira was overjoyed to have Kel'ran back, she also didn't want to leave her new family who she had learned so much from and had grown so attached to, not to mention due to Lokai's sentience his existence was highly illegal in the Sirasion Empire, so it also meant leaving him behind when she had only just found him again.   Samira also didn't fully understand her cybernetic legs were beginning to fail her and she was in dire need of new ones. While Samira wanted to stay with the freedom fighters, she had grown much since her arrival on their ship for the first time, she was beginning to understand in life sometimes choices were hard, and the right one wasn't always the most desirable one. In the end it was Talia who persuaded her that they should both go with Kel'ran.   With a heavy heart, Samira said goodbye to the freedom fighters and Lokai and set off for the Sirasion Empire __________________________________________________________   Due to Kel'ran's rank in the Empire, Samira was able to go to a very highly regarded imperial school. Here she was taught by top level experts in the main academic subjects as well as a multitude of other subjects. Kel'ran made sure the school she went to would not be overly biased toward Imperial culture, or treat her differently for being human, but due to the very nature of Sirasion society this in some cases couldn't be avoided. This was a big reality check for Samira, however she didn't let it stop her. Instead of being beaten down by it she was determined to rise above the stigma and prove herself as a capable equal.   Not only did Samira excel in her studies, she managed to surpass many of her classmates. Her grades showed that she thought more like a Sirasion than a human, which made her very popular among the tutors.   Samira would get her next set of cybernetic legs, funded by Kel'ran. Suddenly she was able to do things she never could before such as jumping, sprinting and climbing. She excitedly told all this to Flynt, Lokai and the rest of the crew when she would regularly visit them. However as Samira continued to improve Talia became more and more absent from her life. She began to run out of reasons why Talia had stopped coming with her to visit Flynt, which saddened the old captain.   When Samira finished her schooling she wanted desperately to take her trial of adulthood like all her Sirasion peers were. However due to the sacred aspect of the trials she was unable to take part. This certainly did not stop her. She was so determined to complete the trial of adulthood that she did so via her own means. She fought her friends who had already completed their trials for the trial of strength then even challenged Kel'ran to the trial of strategy. Finally for her trial of devotion she set off on a year long pilgrimage to visit all of Siran's temples for her trial of devotion. Finally, she found out when the next final trial was being held she acquired a stun rifle and set off to hunt all the partaking individuals alone.   When reports from the participants of the final trial came in that a mysterious human assailant was showing up and taking them all out the reports were initially met with scepticism until one group managed to apprehend Samira. She was immediately arrested for her interference in the trials. This had been the first time in imperial history besides Zurrok a human had attempted the trial of adulthood and gotten so far, much less on their own with no official guidance. The story became a planetwide controversy until even the Emperor, Sal'tarn Darkstar caught wind of it.   People began coming forward to back up Samira. Her friends she had fought with, the people she had met on her travels to the temples and most notably Kel'ran, who testified that she showed extreme capabilities against him in the trial of strategy. Over all, Samira had proven herself whether the public liked it or not and had become a well known figure as a result. Kel'ran was very proud of her.   Emperor Darkstar was unsure what to make of the situation. Eventually he went with the advice of his close allies, Kel'ran and Zurrok, who both believed Samira could do great things for the Sirasion Empire if given the chance. She was officially awarded completion of the trial and there for allowed to join the imperial military as a full member and not just an auxiliary.    With Samira having achieved what she had, Kel'ran was incredibly proud of her. He believed until the day he died that Samira would go far to guide the Sirasion Empire in the right direction in regards to being more accepting of other races.   ________________________________   Samira's biggest challenge was by far being the only human onboard an all Sirasion warship, as it was the imperial navy she had decided to join. She was relentlessly bullied for the simple fact she was a human, but like before she didn't let it slow her down. She climbed through the ranks quickly, reaching the rank of bridge assistant onboard a Zorak Battleship at the height of the Rada offensive.   The Sirasion Empire knew it wasn't completely invincible. Fearing the massive Rada offensive lead by Bashi could drive them all the way back to their home sectors, a contingency plan was formulated that involved preserving a number of Imperial personnel who could be hidden away if the worst were to happen, then later re-awoken with their fighting spirit intact. Samira was selected to be part of this program. Her along with roughly 1000 other individuals were put in stasis.   Samira remained in stasis until just before the coronation of Empress Sar'lira. She acted as an imperial loyalist in fighting off the Sirasion Contingency , it was over these battles she earned her stripes as a Warmaster, her skills in fleet combat being integral to many imperial victories.   __________________________________   Despite Samira's lofty career, she never stopped going to visit Flynt. Over time his crew splintered off, finding their own way in the galaxy. Lokai however remained by his side at the instruction of Samira and stayed with the old captain until the day of his death. Talia was notably absent from his funeral.   After Flynt's death, Samira lost contact with Lokai, his whereabouts still unknown.   Samira would later encounter her sister Talia again, who had joined the Galactic Alliance as one of their naval commandos. The two sisters meet onboard an imperial vessel where Talia's team were attempting to steal some sensitive documents. After finding out her sister was onboard, Samira oversaw the counterattack personally. She sparred Talia's life, warning her never to show her face in imperial space ever again.    Samira Nova was also instrumental in the forming of an allegiance between the Fee and the Sirasion Empire. She was chosen as the head diplomat to appeal to the human-like Fee race along with her right hand, Raz'katan.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Samira is notably the only human in Sirasion Imperial history to achieve a rank as high as imperial warmaster. She achieved this by defying the imperial system for completing the trial of adulthood, risking her own life by completing it unsupervised by officials. As a result she made waves in Siran's news when she tried to take on all the hunting parties involved in their final stage of the trial. When she was caught her name was known by almost everyone on Siran, including the higher ups on the War Council. Zurrok took a keen interest in her, likely as she was the only human besides himself to attempt the trials. The trials themselves being a sacred part of Sirasion culture.   After some convincing from Zurrok and her adoptive father, Kel'ran, Samira was deemed to have completed her trial and was officially recognized as a fully fledged Sirasion citizen.

Mental Trauma

Samira still carries the weight of her past with her. Buried deep in her subconscious is the brutal execution of her mother and younger brother at the hands of some zealous imperial guards. While she finds it hard to recall the memory due to the trauma resulting in her mind forcibly forgetting it, she still revisits it in her nightmares sometimes. Samira has come to accept what happened and that she cannot change it.    She also revisits the day Lokai was destroyed and the time she spent crying by his remains. Despite Lokai being repaired later she still carries a bad taste in her mouth for those clad in Alliance armour.

Morality & Philosophy

On the surface, Samira Nova is just as cold as any other imperial officer of her rank. She will not hesitate to use force when needed and is known for her scorn towards disobedient subordinates. However, if there is one thing she will never do is judge someone based upon the entirety of their species. This stems back from her mother and younger brother being executed by zealous imperial guards, her brother being a half breed human Sirasion and her mother attempting to save his life. Samira witnessed all this first hand when she was young. She would likely have been killed to by association if not for Lokai.    Despite being taught and serving under some incredibly intolerant higher ups, Samira does everything she can in her power to change Sirasion views on their intolerance towards other races, especially humans, if not intentionally, simply by continuing to prove herself as their equal, and in some cases, superior. Her overall intention to be to have less incidents like the one that happened to her family. She is aware the Sirasion people will not all see it her way, but her example in many cases has lead toward a less cruel Sirasion Empire overall. Because of these ideals, Samira hates the contingency, being one of those who opposed allowing them to continue existing at all, primarily due to their extreme prejudice towards anyone but Sirasions in their own ranks.   Samira does not tolerate any such behaviour by troops under her command. If she so much as catches wind of them exhibiting un-necessary cruelty toward another simply due to them being a different species she has been known to exact harsh punishment, most notably with serious offenders, jettison from the airlock.
