Soul jars - death and rebirth
In Winter's Crest in Westruun and Demons in Emon, Glowing crystals supplied or owned by The Clasp take a central role. In Demons, these are identified as "Soul Jars". In WCiW, the crystal "rebirths" Skysunder.
Then, in the interlude between the briarwood arc and the Chroma Conclave, Scanlan trades a "blue crystal shard" that they got last Winter's Crest . Matt indicates that it has "multiple uses".
Tie all of this in with Riskel Daxio 's last words!
So, this could imply that a sort of "ritual rebirth" is possible, potentially specifically relating to Vecna 's resurrection magic. A dead person is reborn as a dragon, or other creature of power (a la, Silas Briarwood being reborn as a vampire), by using a soul jar containing the soul of the person along with some greater ritual? This could even be one of the uses of the Siphon s, but that's a total fuckin guess. Last piece of potential evidence, especially regarding the "multiple uses" bit, is that Master Quall was REAL fuckin sus about his magical experiments, but it turned out to be seemingly benign golomancy . However, if it truly had just been regular ass golomancy, I don't think he would have been so weird about it. This, coupled with the fact that Fassbender's cortex is a crystal with a blue glow, leads me to think that Quall's golomancy might actually be fueled by necromancy, something that we know is at least abstractly possible, given that "fueling things with souls" is one of Raven Queen 's big nono's.
