Raven Queen
god of death
god of history
god of fate
god of winter
"The lady of fates"
Temple is "Raven's Crest" in Vasselheim RQ no nos:
Using souls as fuel/energy
Eternal Life or undeath
Bending fate is chill, completely redirecting is not
RQ seems like she really wants to effect the world to these ends ^
Very active / evangelical.
RQ Mortal form/persona: Very beautiful, very sad
We will now be referring to her mortal form as " Sad Queen ", or SQ, due to this
SQ has red irises and "sunless" skin.
Possible Vampire?
Maybe reason she masks up? Her mortal features are an abomination of undeath?
RQ is a self-admitted opportunist
Raven Queen apparently was mortal and later ascended.
Which is sort of interesting given that she also has made a vestige, which were made when gods still walked the Material Plane. So she, assumingly, supplanted a god while other gods were still like, there.
Interesting note that gives credence to her ascension during one of the wars: that her vestige, Deathwalker's Ward, specifically wards against elemental damage. Very much a artifact that would have been specifically useful in a war against primordial / elemental forces and doesn't really (seemingly) have that much to do with the Raven Queen as we know her.
The wings are a bit more Raven Queen obviously, but the base elemental resistance still doesn't seem particularly related.
"The domain of winter"....
Winter's Crest?
Frostweald connection?
Probably not this one...
Once mortal, the Raven Queen ascended as, essentially, a follower and a partner to the previous god of death, which his name has been erased from the books. This mortal ascended many, many years ago, pre-Second Spark, and has since taken what was once a tyrannical position of death and afterlife and souls and took it instead as the natural transition that it is. However, due to a lack of respect, or at least, a lack of, for lack of a better term, belief or trust from the other gods, she only gained dominion over the actual moment of transition, not of the actual souls of the afterlife.
little bit of stress on the word "belief". Implies that strength of gods may be based on the magnitude of mortal believers, sort of "American gods" esque?
is there anything you can tell me about the fiend named Yenk? We need to use it.
RQ:
Knowledge of this is earned.
Very similar to Kamaljiori's phrase "a name is earned".
You seek this with your allies. Some have already found secrets. I can only say that the path you walked to the sphinx gave you what you need. Stay alive.
Very odd response. The thing that they ultimately used was the gate scroll that they found in the Glintshore, which really doesn't seem even remotely related to the sphinxes, other than maaaaybe that it's related to the vestiges which are related to Kamaljiori. But even then, that would be the path they walked AFTER the sphinx.
"The path you walked TO the sphinx", on the other hand, could mean a several things. It could be the literal path, which I think would most reasonably refer to their contracts with the slayers take (either Rimefang or Hotis the Rakshasa related), OR their path to Kamaljiori, which featured the Ioun obelisk and the dungeon that Kamaljiori lives in (which I normally refer to as Sphinx mountain).
All in all, I have no idea what either of these could have to do with Yenk. I lean towards there being some sort of connection to the fiend Hotis the Rakshasa, but I am truly uncertain as to what RQ could have meant here. Might be just a weird moment of improv that didn't really refer to anything specific but allowed RQ to say something other than "sorry, can't tell ya shit".

Pike's knowledge of RQ:
You understand the Raven Queen has also not always been the one who holds sway over the domain of death, the domain of winter, the domain of fate."The domain of winter"....
