Here's exactly what he said regarding his "studies"
LIAM: What are the subjects of your experimentation?
MATT: "Various things. I enjoy finding out the base elements of existence and life."
MATT: "Very well. I appreciate the synergies between various elements and the ability to link
the essence with that of a living organic entity, or the transition of such living essence into what
is normally non-living matter." MARISHA: So you're a necromancer.
MATT: "No! I don't deal with that ridiculous stuff." TALIESIN: He's talking about transmutation of some kind. MATT: "Yes, yes! Thank you. The transitioning of essences or sparking essence within what was once
non-living matter. I'm talking about elements, I'm not talking about flesh." MARISHA: Like natural elements?
LAURA: Like golems. TALIESIN: It's the veganism of necromancy. It's just kind of dull.
Just to note on his final indignation, the "elements" were very much linked to evil necromancy type shit in the [[Second Spark]]. They are not so far removed in this setting.
In general, it also seems like he is infusing living entities or energy in to non-living matter. So yes, he is not infusing corpses with a facsimile of life, he is using life essence to power a facsimile of life in non-living (non-organic if we base assumptions off of Fassbender) constructions.
All of this is to say, it seems increasingly likely that he potentially employs soul jars as his power source. See [[Soul jars - death and rebirth]] for potential issues there...
Master Quall is interestingly trusting. Even after calling out a very specific and distinct reason that he shouldn't trust them. It did feel like a specific choice though, not random, which makes ME trust Quall / Drez more... hmmmmm....
Master Quall seems like a bit of a wacky fella, definitely interesting characterization. Making his own little mini dungeon in his own house XD
Qual's Golem's "Cortex" is in it's chest, has a blue glow.
This Cortex is likely the same cortex that Vox retrieved for Quall in the pre-stream era.
Also Vox nicknamed the Golem fassbender
Theory / observation zone
Thordak has a smooth thingie in his chest, but if I remember correctly it had a red glow or possibly no glow. Could potentially be that the color is relatively meaningless, or that different colors animate different material types. Blue animates stone, red animates flesh, etc...
We now know that the thing in Thordak's chest is in fact a [[Soul Anchor]] AND a [[Heart Stone]]
This doesn't disconnect it from Quall / Golomancy necessarily. It could be that the golem cortex is also a Heart Stone, or simply that they use similar ritual mechanics. The connection is still there, but a bit more tenuous.
