Vald
Of all the continents on the world of Amaun, none are more diverse or more developed than Vald. It is a place of storied history-- of heroes and villains and everything in between.
Geography
The geography of Vald is generally divided between the forests to the north and the plains to the south. The mountainous Rockspine Peninsula to the northwest and the Aljanni Desert to the west make for far different, if harsh biomes.
Most of the differing regions are divided by high mountain ranges. These generally provide effective barriers to transportation, excepting the rare mountain passes, such as the location of Gate Town. Much of the trade here is by sea, leading to the wealth of nations, like Qandaq
The climate is generally temperate, although this varies in its extent. Northern locations, like The Wilderlands have extremely harsh and long winters. Further south, like in the Grass Sea, the winters are far more mild, but many find the summers uncomfortably hot.
Fauna & Flora
As the continent is so vast, the life that lives here is almost too varied to be catalogued. A large number of creatures both magical and mundane live here. Particularly of note is that all varieties of dragon exist here, but the lack of huge tracts of swampland makes black dragons something of a rarity.
Of greater interest is the diversity of humanoids that exist here. As with most of Amaun, most of them are human. However, significant populations of goblinoids, dwarves, halflings, gnolls and kobolds live here. Some races, such as elves, orcs, and gnomes do not live in significant numbers anywhere else in the Twin Worlds.
