Gamma 490 “Musket” Plasma Rifle
The Clear Corporation was working on a replacement for this weapon, a new plasma rifle for the Trident Coalition Armed Forces when the Clear Negotiator was officially launched, over ten thousand accidentally blew their brains out overnight with the Negotiator, the Clear stock prices plummeted and Daffodil Armaments bought the Clear Corporation. The new rifle was never finished, and Daffodil Armaments sold their new rifle to the military instead.
Just like the Alpha 79 “Flintlock” Plasma Pistol was named for an older, ball and gunpowder weapon, because of its form similarity and shortcomings, so was the “Musket,” for the same reasons. It was a plasma weapon, that was about the same length and shape as a musket, and it was a single shot weapon, just like the ancient projectile weapon. Like the pistol it’s most effective at close range, in fact you’re more likely to kill someone with the attached bayonet than if you shoot them with the rifle.
