Plasma Rifle

An offensive weapon, primarily used in combat, that fires ionized gas, aka plasma. Most plasma rifles require a two hand grip. The plasma rifle is the primary weapon of the soldiers of the the Trident Coalition Armed Forces. There are many makes and models.

The name rifle originally came from the rifling on the inside of the barrel of projectile weapons to make the bullets spin as it traveled through the air, allowing it to go farther and straighter than if just propelled out of the weapon without the spin. There is of course no reason to have rifling inside the barrel of a plasma rifle, but they’re still called rifles.
