Clear Negotiator

The Negotiator is a plasma pistol, manufactured by the Clear Corporation, on Sisyphus Prime. It’s known as the most dangerously unreliable weapon ever made.

The actual name of the gun, in Galactic Common, is: Tinsunin /tinˈsunin/

The Negotiator has two settings, Kill and Hair Dryer, and it switches between these settings, on its own, to whichever is least convenient to the person holding it. On the day it was issued to the Coalition Armed Forces it caused over ten thousand accidental suicides as people tried the hair dryer setting.
The spectacular failure of the Negotiator caused the Clear Corporation stocks to plummet and the company was bought by their competitor, Daffodil Armaments.

Strangely the Negotiator was never recalled, but is still issued to “non-essential personnel” in the Fleet.
