Personal history
Hujur was born to one of the Greater Noble families ruling a city in the Demon Realm. As one of several siblings, Hujur did not anticipate inheriting a ruling position - he did, however, take in interest in how things in his home castle were run.
His family didn’t particularly approve of his love for paperwork and administration, so Hujur begged an older sibling to take him to court in the Demon King’s Castle and leave him there. They agreed, thinking that Hujur would soon tire of the secretarial life and return home.
Unfortunately for them, Hujur lived for the secretarial life - insisting on working his way up the ranks despite his higher social standing so he could understand the administration system at the castle from the bottom up. His talents for logistics and human resources had him quickly promoted anyway, soon becoming the Assistant Head of the entire Administration Department.
His quick promotion - and unusually high social standing - drew suspicion from the spymaster at the time, Faeor. They sent their son, Vajur, to keep a discrete eye on the man.
Vajur was quick to realize Hujur genuinely just loved doing administrative work. He also fell head over heels for this, in the words of Vajur’s parent, “ridiculous little numbers man”. The two started a relationship before long, which has grown stronger despite some rough patches due to Vajur’s often childish behavior.
When the future Demon King Jurao was appointed to Demon General, Hujur got to know Minaz - daughter of the preceeding General and one of Jurao’s Commanders. The two formed a friendship based on similar values in hard work and efficiency, which led to Minaz meeting Vajur as well.
While Vajur usually struggled with making new acquiantences, he and Minaz formed an easy friendship as well - soldiers and spies also having much in common. The relationship between the three turned romantic in time, leading to a solid polycule between them.
When Jurao Ascended to Demon King, Hujur was appointed to Steward after a lengthy interview process - and discovered Minaz had carefully kept their relationship to herself until then so Hujur would be sure his promotion was based on merit and not favoritism.
