Nightmare

Nightmare is the super villain name of Victor Kraze. Nightmare is more than just a villain—he is an existential threat. He doesn’t just want power—he wants total domination. Where others seek control through politics or brute force, Nightmare manipulates, experiments, and eliminates until only the strongest remain. His greatest strength is his strategic mind, but his greatest weakness may be his arrogance—the belief that no one can truly stop him.   As The Guardians rise against him, one question remains: Will Nightmare finally succeed in reshaping the world in his image, or will his unchecked ambition be his downfall?

Personal history

Nightmare is the culmination of years of ambition, deception, and ruthless experimentation. When Quinn McAlester and Blake Hargreaves accidentally activated the Rangeley Reactor Core, proving Victor’s theories, he set his sights on turning them into weapons. While Quinn resisted, Blake fell under his influence, becoming Dark Flame, a lethal enforcer who carried out The Order's will.   But Victor was never satisfied controlling others—he wanted power for himself. Subjecting himself to orgone infusion, he emerged transformed, wielding unprecedented abilities and taking on the name Nightmare. No longer just a shadowy manipulator, he became a true superhuman threat, capable of bending reality to his will and standing toe-to-toe with the world’s strongest heroes.

Enemies & Rivalries

Blue Spekter (Quinn McAlester) – The One That Defied Him Nightmare sees Quinn as his greatest failure and biggest threat. Despite every attempt to break him, manipulate him, or destroy him, Quinn refuses to bend. His obsession with conquering Quinn’s mind fuels much of his hatred. Helion (Blake Hargreaves) – The Traitor Once his greatest weapon, Blake was shaped into Dark Flame under Victor’s guidance. Blake’s defection and eventual redemption infuriated Victor, proving that his control isn’t absolute. Nightmare despises Helion, seeing him as the ultimate betrayal of his vision.   Catamount (Ana María García) – The Survivor Who Defied The Order Ana María is the only known survivor of The Order’s original superhuman experiments in the 1960s. She sabotaged Project Genesis, an early version of The Order’s orgone experimentation program, causing it to be shut down. Nightmare sees her as a symbol of defiance and a loose end, someone who escaped The Order's control decades before it could tighten its grip. After she revealed herself to the world, Victor began investigating her past, discovering her real identity and using that information to send a personalized warning—a clear message that he knew who she was and that she was next. Unlike his usual tactics of manipulation, Victor knows Ana María is beyond corruption—instead, his goal is eradication. Arcbright (Carlos Dominguez) – The Failed Pawn Originally groomed as a successor to Dark Flame, Arcbright’s inhibitor chip malfunctioned, causing him to turn against The Order. His ability to manipulate electricity is a direct counter to Nightmare’s energy-based powers. Nightmare now sees him as another loose end that needs to be eliminated. The Guardians – The Resistance A group of superhumans and allies who stand against The Order’s reign. Nightmare considers them an annoyance, believing that their idealism makes them weak.   Tempest – The New Enforcer A powerful new recruit, Tempest wields control over the elements, making her a formidable force. Unlike Blake or Carlos, she seems fully committed to The Order and its ideology. Nightmare groomed her as a loyal, unstoppable soldier, intent on succeeding where Dark Flame failed. Wrath – Elite Enforcer Unlike past operatives like Dark Flame or Arcbright, Wrath has never questioned Nightmare's authority, making him one of The Order’s most trusted and disciplined soldiers. Nightmare relies on Wrath for missions that require absolute precision and overwhelming force, knowing that he will never hesitate or fail due to personal emotions. Wrath represents Nightmare’s ideal superhuman—obedient, powerful, and ruthless, proving that Victor’s vision of dominance through strength is achievable. Dreadnought (Darien James) - Enforcer The third successful attempt at creating a ruthless enforcer to take down The Guardians. Nightmare stokes Darien's hate and anger toward Quinn, intending on ensuring Quinn's total destruction. Nightmare groomed him as a loyal, unstoppable wildcard soldier, intent on succeeding where Dark Flame failed.
