The King's Realm
Also referred to as his Palace, The Silent King's Realm is by all means and purposes, a physical, arcane, and eldritch planar manifestation of his primordial knowledge; one could call it being in their mind. Fueled by their aberrant magics, hidden far away from the eyes of Gods and other ancestral powers, it is only accessible to him and those they’ve allowed entrance.
Geography & Navigation
This region has no sky, even if celestial bodies and clouds appear from time to time, or there are apparent roofs in some locations. Most of its halls are shaped by bookshelves, the Realm predominantly described as a “library”, showcasing the knowledge gathered in every centimeter of its nonsensical landscape. However, the environment is ever-changing and labyrinthian, the laws of the Material Plane inconsequential, most places being found when needed, rather than actually tracked down. Making a map is nigh impossible, and most Servants quickly learn to forget to try and get familiar with the layout, and rely on their instinct instead for navigation. If you are meant to find something or someone, you eventually will.
Navigating your surroundings and your time in the Palace requires you to trust the King itself and its magics in a way, which can be maddening. There is no sun, yet you know its day, and you probably only do because the Aberrant ruler of this bizarre world wants it that way. Many just learn to live with it, but adjusting can be incredibly complicated.
The bookshelves are thousands of times the height of a humanoid, fading into the “sky” itself, sometimes twisting into multiple forms, spirals, and other forms that make no real structural sense but in a magic one. They are filled with scrolls, books, artifacts, and who knows what else, for it is the physical embodiment of all the knowledge the monster has gathered throughout millions of years. The ground itself easily breaks down into floating islands, into cracks that are canyons with no bottom, and edges that show the same; gargantuan lakes of nothing in between pieces of land.
One consistent thing however is the lack of nature, plants, and wildlife however; unless put in one of the shelves as a taxidermied piece, a painting, etc. The closest thing to “nature” in the Realm are the trails left by Overseer Tracho, and itself.
The Passage of Time
Time works very much the same, being simply… A sensation. One that is consistent for every being across the realm, even if their schedules may differ. If various Servants wonder what time it is, within, they’ll just know it's midnight; and so on and so forth.
The King's Realm follows no specific calendar, and offers no way to track one. Most Servants lose track of their homeworld's calendar, and live on based on a vague sensation of years passing by. Some do try to keep track of their homeworld's dates, to varying degrees of success.
Magic Within the Realm
The Silent King has individuals from all corners of the Multiverse within his Realm, this, it must accomodate for them. Magic works for any individual just like it does in their world of origin, and so will any other abilities they have; unless the King deems it otherwise. This control applies only to those under contract with him, but universally, any spells or abilities that allow for Extraplanar travel, or communication with creatures outside of the Realm, will not work unless The King or The Archivist explicitly allow it. This also includes Gods, and other creatures of similar influence.Death & Afterlife under the King's Service
Death is extremely rare within The Silent King's plane, Servants who die during their service usually doing so while out on a job. The King is a creature that takes from its Servants only what it has been explictly given, and thus, if a Servant dies, unless negotiated otherwise, he will not interfere in any shape or form. Allowing their souls to be subject to whatever laws of the Afterlife the world they died in has, their world of origin does, or any other circumstances that befall them post-mortem. On rare ocassion, a Servant may resist death, be it because they were already Undead or some other extraordinary circumstance (such as Ghaadlan Hel'tylass or Michael H. Terrell), or they've returned as a Ghost, Revenant, or whatever else. In that case, the Servant will still be subject to whatever terms they agreed to with The Silent King. Some Servants ask for a clause in which they'll be free upon death, though most never think of doing this; and in such a case, the Aberrant God will respect said clause, freeing them of their duty, allowing them to remain a Vassal, or discussing a new deal to be made if the Servant shows interest. Ultimately, it varies greatly from situation to situation.Related Articles
