Currency in the Realm. Information, Favors & Time

Currency has no value in a plane of existence habitated by creatures of a hundred different worlds, and where their rank is determined by their usefulness to The Silent King only. Even though there is a Realm treasurer, Bradol "Glasshorn", who takes care of all things finances, ultimately, said finances are only used when they are of use to the King. If Servants need money in whatever job they must do for him, they will receive it. If bribes, bails, or other costs must be covered, depending on circumstance, they will be. If a Servant asked for gold as their reward, they'll get what they asked for.

But outside of that, money is essentially completely useless to The King's Realm residents. Yet, people still trade, barter, negotiate, and gamble, be it to further their own goals, to gain something, or just pass the time, and they have turned to other forms of currency for this purpose.

Information

The King's eternal pursuit, information is the very fabric of the Realm, and thus its true and most valuable currency. Favors, deals, gifts, bets, and so much more, are struck with information of all kinds as the prize.

Many individuals are but everyday folk however, and don't have information about worlds they've never seen, so they have little to offer. This has resulted in a culture of secrecy regarding personal jobs or missions you are sent to within the Realm. Many don't say a word about their affairs, or a job, to anyone but to their "co-workers" on said job, Overseers or The Archivist herself. Being well-aware of this all, and not being one to waste her time spreading gossip or private information, The Archivist is known to NEVER tell on the details of a job to anyone but those involved, unless they request otherwise.

Of course, this is not the case for everyone. Equally, there are individuals who could care less about sharing the details of their jobs with the King, even if they may hide their background, or not even that. Though open books are certainly rare in the Realm.

Favors & Time

Individuals trade in favors or other things aplenty as well. Favors are obvious, as most people here are here to work for the King, so having the favor of another Servant may make said work easier.

Time is another currency used in the Realm. This one is rarer, as most people's deals are not based on time, but a specific goal or prize being fulfilled by The King. Still, some are, and these people will tarde or gamble their years away, or to cut their stay shorter. This is allowed as long as the other Servant accepts the deal, gamble, whatever it may be, completely willingly. Though Vanessa will not stop this in any way, she does find it annoying and will let it be known, as that means she has to rewrite their contract.

Rumors

Not all Servants have the same reputation, and a few are known to be particularly knowleadgable or fond of deals. However, widespread rumors in this manner are not many.

  • The Archivist, Vanessa Yovranna, NEVER seeks out deals, and practically never participates in them. Not for information, not for time, favors, nothing. At least not in business "Archivist-Servant" relations.
  • Otis Caravaggio, scout, stalker, and an millenial member of the Court is the most obvious choice when it comes to anything information. After all, he always seems to know more than he should. Some suspect he may have more access to the Archives than most people, even if its nowhere close to The Archivist. However, dealing with him is near impossible based on most finding him... Confusing. Besides odd and insufferable, he never says what he wants, being incredibly dodgy, and seems to find most Servants boring. Thus, not telling them anything may yield something more amusing... Whatever that means for him.
  • “Ñamo” , LOVES to dabble on deals, favors, or whatever else. Being the star recruiter of the King and a social charmer and scout, they are an excellent source of information. However, they most always ask for the same thing, emotions or dreams to feed on, and always twist deals so they are ultimately the winner. Most people avoid trading or even gambling with them due to this. Though, most already avoid them nonetheless.
  • The Mech-Commisiarat is EXTREMELY talkative, and will ramble on for hours and hours about Nevesa, his inventions, of his warmongering days in the past, in landscapes beyond stars where monsters the size of suns and indescribable to men lay. However, The Mech-Commisiarat is extremely unstable, and even though some days he is more sound, he has long succumbed to madness. His stories may be true, but he often goes on in senseless tangents, musings, and is overall unreliable. So most people don't believe him at all, not wanting to waste time trying to guess what is true and what is not.
  • Ser Garnet of River Dee, even though a proactive scout, Ser Garnet is mindless, so... Completely unable to negotiate in any way.
  • Dr. Herrton Bu’dday & Reverend Geizgott Liedino are easy to please, and rarely demand information. They are much more interested in monsters, so many bring back their kills to them, much to their delight.
  • "Lanna" Gon'diva has a "business partner" she mentions off-handedly from time to time. She avoids the topic and is dodgy about explaining who that may be, but its someone inside the Realm.
  • Zalika the Reckless and her Devil Patron and "Companion" Tif know more than they say. Or at least what Zalika says, and allows Tif, who is ALWAYS trying to say more than he should, to say. She will do her job as a blacksmith in the Realm, but most can never meet the demands she asks in exchange for special favors or information.
  • Ghaadlan Hel'tylass . No.
