The Silent King

Bound To An Endless Search, He Is Never To Rest

The Silent King is an eldritch outer god, a being unfit to bow to the laws of logic and comprehension most creatures in the multiverse follow. In the eyes of mortal, extraplanar and even divine, black smoke dances to give it a wolf’s visage; tendrils of neither flesh or spell flowing as lively as flame and river. Within its shadow self, bright, empty green eyes rest on its houndish head, its gaze indecipherable yet forevermore watchful.

Its ever-changing visage, loyal only to its own will, commands over metamorphosis as if it were breath; twisting the limits of its own gargantuan heights, sprouting an invasion of bloodshot eye, dripping a waterfall of sizzling acid, bearing marble tooth as lips part, forming a beast’s maw…

Among other countless, unfathomable more.

The Silent King is a spirit who’s existed since times immemorial, even before many of the multiverse’s worlds were even born or named. An Aberrant creature, practically a Deity, he serves no master and obeys no ruler; only interested in his endless hunt for knowledge, every single act they have ever done serves this purpose. More and more information, more and more wisdom, obsessive, yet as impersonal as rock, wind, and sea; their hunger is never-ending. Besides that, very little is known about their origin, and they are not one to share said secrets.

Demeanor & Personality

Their title is their only name, answering to no other; though it fits their modus operandi perfectly. They are deeply secretive, seeking to leave no trace of their presence or direct involvement. He finds no use in cults or worship, and prefers to work on a smaller scale, rather than twisting great rulers and changing that which he wishes to learn about. He prefers to observe worlds in their natural state, as it were, rather than fundamentally changing them. Thus, grander gestures or operations are very atypical of him.

He is extremely jealous of his treasured findings, and will not share them unless he is given something of equal importance; in its own eyes, of course. They have no real moral code, acting only to reach their goals, and seem alien to mortal-like emotions, even if they do have… A personality, or a pattern of behavior, at least. Some of said “patterns” would easily be seen as noble in most creatures, but him?… If anything, it sparks more questions.

The King finds no use or pleasure in lies, nor needless cruelty. In its eyes; lies are bound to be found, thus, easily complicating his servant’s work via their entangled web, and pain inflicted yet not required will most always give skewed, untrustworthy results. Due to this, they are rather assertive, always getting straight to the point; though this doesn’t keep him from withholding information; which is actually incredibly common of them, even if they do so openly. It usually does this as it wishes to observe their reactions to what it's sent them after, giving them only what he finds necessary for them to succeed… And survive, of course.

The King is actually rather distant, rarely interjecting himself, even when handling his own Servants within his own Realm. This work is usually left to his right-hand, The Archivist , who is the one in closest contact to him. He is often gone, off to indulge in his studies, machinations, or whatever else may be.

The King's Deals

The Silent King indulges greatly in deals and transactions with mortals to gain more knowledge. They do this constantly, usually using one of their servants to reach its object of interest; their methods being completely inconsequential to him as long as his secrecy isn’t compromised. Which… Has made new recruits tricked into serving him rather common, many not even realizing it was an Aberrant being until they’re standing in his grounds.

Like mentioned before, his targets tend to be of humble role or small in their world’s scale, but hold positions that will benefit him all the same. A tax collector, a spy, a wandering bard, a novelist, even a farmer. It all varies on what its goal at the time is. Yet, they never seem to contract… Children, teenagers. Talking to them, getting information from them; of course, that’s not rare, but as far as anyone knows… He’s never bound one to his service. The reason why is unknown, as their answers on this matter are rarely offered, and if given, inconsistent.

History

Besides his ancient age, and obsessive hunt for knowledge, all else regarding the King is currently unknown.
