Northern Empire
The Northern Empire was founded in 1703 when the Principality of Palischia, under the leadership of Grand Prince Piotr Romanovsky, captured the Western Empire city of Port Charlotte and renamed it Saint Piotrsgrad, making it their first seaport and capital of the newly proclaimed Northern Empire. The Northern Empire is not as wealthy or powerful as the Western Empire or the Southern Empire but makes up for it in its refusal to give in and uncanny ingenuity in the face of hardship.
Born from the consolidation of the Principality of Palischia and the cossack hosts of the Great Northern Steppe, the Northern Empire can appear rough and unrefined to its southern neighbors but should not be mistaken for mere barbarians. It makes particular use of rapid deployment of cossack horse raiders and Northern Fleet corvettes to harass any encroachment on its territory, ensuring savage resistance.
As of 1714, the Northern Empire is ruled by Tsar Piotr Romanovsky the Grand and is being outperformed militarily and economically due to the creation of the Grand Maritime Union (GMU) between the Western Empire and Southern Empire. To curb the influence of the GMU, the Tsar sent a Northern Fleet convoy under the command of Boyar Igor Palischov to raid sugar plantation colonies in the New World.
