Northern Fleet
The Northern Fleet is the naval arm of the Northern Empire . It was recently founded after the war between the Principality of Palischia and the Kingdom of Albion, which resulted in the creation of the Northern Empire and the capture the port city of Saint Piotrsgrad, their first port city. Due to rising tensions with the recently founded Grand Maritime Union, which united the recently established Kingdom of Great Albion and Kingdom of Herabria in a trade alliance, 2 ships from the fledgling Northern Fleet, IMS Saint Nicholas and IMS Blade, were sent under the command of Boyar Palischov to raid GMU-funded Albine colonies in the New World.
Instead, the Northern Fleet accidentally crossed into the Sea of Thieves, known in their language as Varov-More. Boyar Palischov would die due to the chaos caused by the skin-searing mist of the Devil's Shroud during the entry into Varov-More, with command falling to Frigate-Captain Vasily Makarov. Frigate-Captain Makarov would create an outpost on Thieves' Haven known as Burevoy Anchorage in 1714.
In January 1715, he would also establish contact with Isaiah Thorne, captain of the Bloodseeker pirates, establishing a partnership. Frigate-Captain Makarov's first officer, Lieutenant Bertryll Mosinov, would lead a boarding party from IMS Saint Nicholas to storm an underwater fortress of sirens, discovering a journal written by the legendary pirate, Ramsey Singh. His discovery would enable IMS Vanguard, led by Corvette-Captain Artyom Smirnov and Lieutenant Maverick "Zale" Samson to discover a mythical artifact known as the Shroudbreaker, allowing travel through the deep fog of the Devil's Shroud unimpeded.
Command Structure:
The Northern Fleet is commanded by the Boyar of Saint Piotrsgrad. The most recent, Boyar Vladimir Palischov, was claimed by the sea during the disasterous convoy where the Northern Empire first voyaged to the Sea of Thieves. The Northern Fleet is now commanded by Frigate-Captain Vasily Makarov , who is trapped alongside the majority of the Northern Fleet in the Sea of Thieves.
