History
Dream of A New Kingdom
After the end of the Northern Wars of Unification the new appointed High King of Norria, Darius Harkon decreed that a new capital would be built to forge a new union over the continent of Norria and is people. In doing so, he hoped to promote a sense of unity where all could live amongst one another as countrymen, no matter their culture or race. The decision to build a new capital was not made lightly. Darius understood that it had to be more than just a seat of power; it had to represent the shared aspirations of the people. The chosen location for the city, later named Sturmhåll, was a vast, fertile plain bordering a significant river. This site was geographically central and rich in resources, ensuring economic sustainability for the city’s growth. The planning and construction of Sturmhåll were ambitious undertakings. Architects, engineers, and artisans from every corner of the continent were summoned to contribute their skills and perspectives. All were tasked to infuse the knowledge the High King learned to build and mark the beginning of a city that he hoped to one day rival the imperial city of Vatia one day. The integration of these varied influences was a testament to Darius's vision of unity. The speed of building went faster than expected with the aid Giants and Asmar being able to carry much large load than most other races. This led to many buildings being built in the first year alone, including the seat of his power, the Griffon's Hold, where he would govern all that lived in his new settlement.Struggles of Unity
The vision of a unified Norria was not without challenges. Many factions resisted the idea of integration, clinging to their old identities and grievances. Chiefs from the southern territories feared losing their influence to the central government. Some Asmar clans, wary of human intentions, refused to participate in the project altogether. Meanwhile, many in the remaining Roveni Steppe Hosts questioned whether this new union would genuinely benefit them or see their way of life be destroyed. To address these concerns, Darius implemented policies designed to ensure equal representation and foster mutual respect. A council of representatives, drawn from all major cultural groups, was established to oversee the city’s construction and governance. This council’s deliberations were open to the public, promoting transparency and encouraging dialogue. Additionally, the High King issued decrees that protected the traditions and rights of each group, ensuring that no one’s identity would be erased in the name of unity. One of the most significant initiatives was the Festival of Binding, an annual celebration that brought together people from across Norria to showcase their music, dance, cuisine, and art. The festival quickly became a cornerstone of Sturmhåll’s identity, fostering a sense of camaraderie among its citizens and visitors. Over time, even the most skeptical factions began to see the value of cooperation as trade flourished and cultural exchanges enriched the lives of all. Yet, the path to unity was far from smooth. Mistrust lingered between groups, occasionally erupting into violence. One of the most notorious incidents occurred during the construction of the Giffion's Hold when a labor dispute escalated into a riot, threatening to derail the entire project. Darius’s response a combination of firm leadership and genuine efforts to address grievances was instrumental in restoring order and reaffirming his commitment to the vision of Sturmhåll.Tourism
