Thorhil is a main sequence star located three standard light years galactic north of the
Foni star system. Thorhil is orbited by seven stellar objects with a medium sized asteroid belt located between the third and fourth planets. Thorhil has been a the subject of much conflict during the course of the Silence. Various ideological issues on the third world of
Hartika Rita lead to a schism in the population that reached its boiling point just before the Scream. More than half the world's population left and settled the nearby world of
Polymen on the other side of the
Paks Belt.
Remarkably, the system was able to maintain control of numerous spike capable vessels after the Scream, and within a century of the Scream war broke out between the two worlds. The Hartikan War, as it has become known in the sector, was an on and off affair that persisted for most of the five-hundred years of Silence. The war reached its most destructive crescendo about three century ago when the two sides began using weaponized spike drives to launch extinction level attacks at one another. When the dust of that conflict settled both worlds had been reduced to stone age technology levels.
After three centuries of rebuilding, the war between the Ritans and the Polymen has begun to heat up again. The
Waytani Corporation has provided relief supplies, support and weapons to the Ritans claiming it is a Humanitarian effort. Likewise, the
ACR from the Euribian Nebula began providing ships and resources to the Polymen in an effort to fend off "Waytani Aggression," inciting many in the sector to begin referring to the newly renewed Ritan Conflict as a proxy war being waged in the on-going conflict between the two extra-solar super powers.
