Afari Congressional Republic of Planets

Originating on the planet Afari, the Afari Congressional Republic of Planets is a relatively newer stellar polity based on an ethos of hard work, individual rights and communal support. Afari is famous in the Rabian Delta for being the only planet that was able to maintain a functional and working Pretech Infrastructure. This was accomplished largely through various, unknown, stellar protections Afari had from the Scream.
During the Silence the formerly isolationist people of Afari began to fear their position as the sole proprietors of pretech equipment; believing that this would make them a target from the other systems. Their discovery of the Mandate pretech vault on Clyme only gave power to this cultural fervor. After a tike Afarins became convinced that the only way to ensure the safety of their people from predation of outside forces was through strength of arms and a zero tolerance foreign policy.
Often viewed as aggressive conquerors, the truth is that the few system that the Afari Congressional Republic Navy has conquered have been fine peaceably, with fighting reserved as the absolute last resort. Even so, for the past few decades a cultural shift has be ocurring on Afari.
A minor, but active portion of the population has be driving a destructionist movement, claiming that Afari is and always was a menace to the sector, calling for full scale revolution and reformation. The movement has gained little traction outside of DatNet chat rooms and biased media outlets, but despite its failings, the movement persists and is being presented as the opinion shared by the majority of the population. Many, often ridiculed as conspiracy theorists, have suggested this movement is being fed life by Corprate media influence, propaganda, university cultural centers and celebrity ownership perpetrated by Waytani Aerospace. Little evidence exists to support these claims.
