Hartika Rita

Hartika Rita is a temperate rainforrest world in the Thorhil system located exactly one astronomical unit from the star. The third planet in the system, Hartika Rita sits directly in the goldilocks zone and was the first settled of the two inhabited planets in the system. Originally settled by Neo-Buddhists of primarily indian decent, the world's population has gone through a number of cultural shifts as the result of several large conflicts in the planet's past.
The biggest and most well known struggle the Ritans faced began mere decades after the colony's founding in an event known as the Awakening. While the colonial capital of Al Sahid (known in modern times as New Acadia) was still in it's infancy, an exploratory expedition into the Euphrates Plains of the southern hemisphere discovered a dangerous flora emitting spores that, when introduced to the human nervous system, altered the genetic makeup of the host. These mutated humans (comically dubbed Funghouls) were hostile, unexpectedly aggressive and immune to almost any levels of pain. Additionally, the Funghouls themselves produced the same spores the flora did, spreading the infection. The pathogenic spread of the Funghouls almost destroyed the budding colony.
Exactly why is unclear, as the Ritans are defensively secretive about it, but at some point the entire male population was blamed for Funghoul outbreak. Over the subsequent decades the animosity towards males rapidly progressed towards full scale genocide before compassionate political parties seeking to prevent that end instead placed a number of laws and sanctions that effectively made males second class citizens without voting rights and limited work opportunities. They believed this option the lesser of the two evils.
After the Scream, when the fate of the galaxy was in question, an aggressive and violent revolt of the males lead to the beginning of an almost millennia long conflict known as the Ritan War. After centuries of fighting and a cataclysmic event referred to locally as The Fall, the Ritans sought a peace with the Polymen that lasted for centuries. Blessed with a more hospitable and resource rich world, the Ritans have prospered and while they lack access to the rarer elements required for advanced technological advancement, in the last century the Ritans have become prosperous allies of the Waytani Industrial Aeronautics Corporation.
