Story Anchor 2 - Heimdall's Grand Quest

Once players are finished in the Mannaz Tribe, they will have two options to continue the plot. Now that they have a map, Rothar can lay the map out on a table and explain the two paths they can take.  

Path 1 - Journey to Othala

Rothar Speaking:
I believe we have two options here. Our first choice is to go through the Cloudcap Mountain Pass and take a ferry over the Southern Passage to the Othala Tribe. They are direct descendants of the survivors of Ragnorok. If anyone knows how to get you home, it's them. They also happen to be settled just a ways away from Heimdall's Fortress. The legends say that he was the keeper of the Bi-Frost and that he kept a secret library of knowledge about the Ancients underground in his home. If we can enter the fortress and find this library, we might find a way to reactivate the Bi-Frost. However the trip there will take at least 4 days, and we'll have to go through the Cloudcap Mountains. The road is mostly safe, but if we hit bad weather in the mountains we might not make it out. Not to mention some travelers have encountered trolls and bandits and who knows what else. But, it is a well traveled trade route between our tribes and I can definitely navigate us there safely.
 

Path 2 - Caverns of Wyrd

My less preferred option is the Caverns of Wyrd. No one has any real idea what lies in there. The Gjoll river flows in from the sea, under the mountains, and out the other side to Moonwhisper Lake. So, not only would we need a boat, but we'd be paddling up river, into completely unmapped, extremely dangerous tunnels. Every attempt to scout the area has ended in disaster. Those hunters you encountered when you first arrived, that was only part of the group. There was another portion of 10 scouts with orders from Kofa to explore at least the first portion, on the off chance we'd find food resources in there. 3 days before you arrived, 2 of the 10 returned. One was heavily injured and died shortly after. The other has become bewitched in his mind and hasn't shut up about the caverns since. Same is true for any others who've made it out alive. Although I'm not one take much out of madmen's ramblings, between their crazed mutterings is a rumor of a central cavern that contains a very deep pool. And at the bottom of this pool, supposedly lies treasures beyond your wildest dreams, and a pit that reaches the very bowels of the earth, and even, into the stars. I'm not sure how much of it is true, but it definitely sounds like the type of thing we are looking for. Between all of us, I think we might just be able to brave the dangers and at least see if there's any truth to these rambles. I believe we'd most likely make it out alive. Maybe. possibly. Probably. Eventually.
