  • What Happened

Following The Drakeslayers' victory over the cultists, Gúrda went to get themself some parchment and ink to write down the events of the last few days, while Geort purchased some more equipment. While both of them were away, Melé and Daz talked about Melé's strange book, which she had found a short while ago and included the various battle prayers of the Hayim protector goddess Yali. Melé was slow to share the details of her past, as she wanted to keep much of it there, but she told him about how she was ostracized from Hayim society because of her belief in the powers of these prayers, and Daz told her that she now had a new purpose with the party.   That night, Gúrda had a strange dream. In it, they were trapped down in a chasm, a recreation of an event in their youth before they had left their village and begun their life as an adventurer. Just as it had happened back then, a green nature spirit came out of the darkness of the cave. Instead of the adventure in their youth, when the spirit had given them primal powers, the spirit seemed concerned and transformed into creatures at a dizzying pace, eventually settling on a wolf. The spirit then said that it was waiting "at home" and Gúrda woke up, confused about the spirit's message.   Then, the four adventurers began the long day's travel to the capital of The Gratic Empire, Gratic City. About halfway through their journey, they came upon a stopped caravan, where Dakir was flinging spells at a group of undead creatures coming out of the bushes by the side of the road. After a long struggle, where the creatures were no match for Gúrda's flames and Melé and Geort's radiant fervour, the creatures were defeated and Dakir offered to give them a life to the city.   Arriving there, Geort learned from a pair of guards stationed at the gates that a group of people had gone missing in recent weeks in the Southwark district - the same district he had grown up in - and that there was a scandal surrounding the Lord Mayor Varen Algandir's son. After a short jaunt through Teris district, the four found themselves entering the Broken Tankard Inn, a high-end establishment close to the edge of the district.   Inside, they quickly made the acquaintance of the bartender, Séran Poltaga, and after a short scuffle regarding lodging for the night, Geort and Daz ended up bumping into the table of Art Dagesti and his compatriot, Zaltar Benvol. The latter was unceremoniously banished from the table, and Daz stepped in to play a couple hands of the card game that the pair had been playing. Losing two of the three games, Daz then dropped the hint (in Essic) that he was looking for work for his party, and Art, amazed and flush from victory, let them know of a recent disappearance of sewer workers in the Southwark district and that the reward for their safe return or the destruction of whatever was down there would be split 50/50 between his company and the party. Daz said he would think about it, and went to inform the party of the deal.
