Sandow Thicket

Spreading over the southern regions of the Meyland Valleys, the Sandow thicket is a huge, dense oak forest that extends up the slopes of the Garand's Ridge Mountains. The canopies are so thick that sunlight rarely meets the rugged and overgrown undergrowth beyond sparse shafts of light. Because of this, it is often inhabited by giant spiders, green-skins, and Forest Kobolds who all prefer darker environments.   In the depths of the forest, hostile tribes of green-skins and kobolds are able to hide and organize raids of the surrounding countryside. There are many marshes and lakes within the forest as well as dense thickets, making it difficult to track down raiders when they are pursued.   Many vile creatures, huge monsters, and other savage beasts linger and breed here and so the forest attracts mercenaries and prospective members of the Hunter's Keep eager to hunt them down, slay them, and thereby win honor or coin.   Most never return, while the remains of others are sometimes found years later, bones scattered around the lair of some hideous beast, while swords and crossbows lie embedded to the hilt in the bark of great oaks that have grown around them.
