Daggerveil

The town: Multi racial town, exquisite buildings made with stone and expertly crafted wood. Not an ocean town, more located inland, and nearby there is a sewer system that all the crap from the town runs into, and there have been rumors of stuff going down in there, lots of screams and weird stuff. On top of said sewer (entrance is in the bottom of a mountain) is a rundown guild, which our characters will be able to purchase or receive. The town has a big open square, filled with people, merchants, and soldiers. The town has been fairly lax until the onslaught of goblin soldiers. Now they are on edge, creating a curfew and strict rules in the town, which most people don’t like. There is a castle in the backend of Daggerveil, and there rules a dragonborn known as Chumror (Known as the Clumsy One by people who don’t like him), and he gives our characters the quest of the sewer. Town is multi layered, as it is built into the mountainside. It starts lower, but there are many different layers, all usually different sections, to this city. There is the market district (main street), the pleasure district, political district (business), fun and games district, and the park and nature distract. Each one has many different things. And then at the top of the layered city is the castle, Castle Daggerveil, which is significantly larger than what most people have seen. It rules over the city, where most are well off, there isn’t really that much poor, as this is a decent and well off city, but there is a district specifically for the poor. The Slum district, there is a smaller town in the slums hidden for the mousefolk. The settlement has stayed afloat for many many years. It started as a small village, and has since grown into a booming hotspot for everyone. It is the largest city in Terra Minima and Terra Maxia. There are often chickens running around.

Demographics

-There are a few sections of the town. It is often split with ethnicities and species, multiple different persons living together. The wealth of Daggerveil is plentiful, many persons being of average wealth. There is a large poverty area of Daggerveil, and nobody really gets out of poverty once they are in it in Daggerveil. There are a lot of different towns and buildings, apartments and inns, and even Daggerveil Castle, the political center of the city.   -Multi racial town, exquisite buildings made with stone and expertly crafted wood. Government

Castle Daggerveil is the main political center of the city, as well as the major governing center for all of Terra Maxia, and even has its reach extended to part of Terra Minima. Soldiers and political figures live and govern here, but sometimes travel the world for politics. Daggerveil sends soldiers from place to place every now and then, when tensions get high, but they typically stay and guard the city. The taxes in Daggerveil are often low, but every few years, the taxes raise quite high, traffic lowers during this time, but generally the population of Daggerveil is still very very high. It is a booming metropolis after all.

Defences

There are very large guard checkpoints just outside the city, and there is also large guard posts right inside the gate and outside the Castle. They can also raise the bridges leading into Daggerveil. The city is very protected and always on guard, especially as of late, since goblin attacks have been on the rise.

Industry & Trade

Daggerveil is wealthy, there are many shops, often donating to the politicians so they can better the town. They import, and export, quite a lot of goods. The slums is the only area where people avoid, often not giving any help to better the town at all. The settlement has stayed afloat for many many years. It started as a small village, and has since grown into a booming hotspot for everyone. It is the largest city in Terra Minima and Terra Maxia

Infrastructure

Off the West end of the city, there is a farm, that has watermills and windmills that help power the city. There is a large sewer system at the bottom of the Daggerveil mountain, where all the city's sewage goes to. There is a large courtyard and square in the main section of town, a main street, a park, and some slums, as well as the Castle. There are bridges leading into town, and at the bottom of the mountain, next to the abandoned guild, the Maxia Ocean has a shipyard set up.

Assets

Daggerveil is wealthy, for sure. There are many different assets in the city, lots of stores, inns, churches, public buildings, restaurants, bars, etc. All having very good business and are usually packed. There is a lot of gold running through the veins of Daggerveil, especially Castle Daggerveil, the political center.

Guilds and Factions

There are many different factions in the city. There is often rallies for certain species; Dragonkin/Dragonborn, Elves, Dwarves, Humans, you name it. There is a faction for Mousefolk as well, a little world hidden in Daggerveil. There are also factions based on wealth, the poverty groups fight for rights and lower taxes, and the wealthy work together to continue being in power.   There were guilds in the city, most have moved to other cities and locations. As of right now, there is no established guild, and the large guild hall is abandoned. The reason guilds have moved is because Castle Daggerveil feels the city doesn't need travelling warriors to protect them, as they have many soldiers.

History

The history of Daggerveil starts with a very small settlement in the beginning of the Era of Man. Over the years, more and more people came to the tiny village, eventually setting up shops and such, turning a small town into a small city. People would fight to be leader of the city, eventually causing a war between neighboring parties. Eventually it settled down, and they had a decent leader, which, over the years, would be handed down and the city would grow into a booming metropolis. The city is very old and very exquisite. There was also a large invasion many years ago, this was dubbed "The Battle of Daggerveil," and was documented heavily, as it was almost the downfall of this civilization. There were dozens of Orcs with Minotaurs, an odd combination, but they decimated the town, slaughtering many people. There are no longer people who were alive when it happened, but there are rumors that the townsfolk stood their ground and fought back. It is said that an Ancient White Dragon was summoned and was able to help the townsfolk defend their home. This is all speculation of course, since nobody actually witnessed it, but it is a very strong rumor, often on tapestry's painting a picture of the battle, a white dragon is in the foreground. The Ancient White Dragon's name is known as Myveil, The White One, rumor has it that the dragon's name is how the city got the name Daggerveil. It is unsure if the name existed prior to the battle.

Architecture

Exquisite buildings made with stone and expertly crafted wood. The roads are all hand placed stone, there are lights and lanterns lighting the city. All the stores and the like are all clearly handmade and expensive. The bridges are wood, with stone and iron lining. Castle Daggerveil is made of carved stone blocks, all set up together many many years ago by slave labor.

Geography

Daggerveil is located on a large mountain, the tiered city being built into the actual mountain. There are also pathways leading down the mountain, leading to the abandoned guild hall and the sewer system entrance. The city is tiered, the base layer, being the main square, and other layers going up towards the Castle.

Natural Resources

Stone and wood, as well as general ores exist around Daggerveil, and it exports a lot of goods of those kinds. There are many different tinkerer's and the like and they can craft goods that they can sell also.
