Ignatz Aethbar is an architect mage under the direct of employ of the The Mages Guild of Krakonia(MGK) , and is responsible for crafting magical effects through the use of MGK-provided scrolls, wands, staves, etc. As an architect mage, he cannot generally defend himself from danger, despite being technically capable of casting the most advanced forms of magic in his specific specialty. He is best known for his involvement in The Kingdom of Krakonia 's budding teleportation program, conjuring permanent teleportation circles across the region's most traveled locations, combining two spells that would ordinarily imply great strength and expertise in magic as a whole, but in his case is more of a very specific specialty at the expense of any other magical talent. This expertise is in part due to his interest in The Effects of the Dawn , a field of study funded personally by archmage Samuel Evergreen himself. Teleportation magic in general is of key importance to scholars attempting to discover any sort of connection between the arcane and the mysterious power that sent multiple planes worth of people into Requerm in the first place.
Ignatz first appeared in the campaign during the prologue session as an escort quest for the party, as they had been assigned to protect him along the way to The Lynian Gold Mines so that he could create a permanent teleportation circle in the location. Along the way, the party had to defend him from a pack of Ludroths , when he explained in more detail what he meant when he told them that he was an architect mage who could not defend himself in a fight. He parted ways with the party after successfully creating the teleportation circle and bringing the party back with him to Krakonia City .
