The Forgotten Family

As seen in

(a.k.a. The shadowed three. The Misted trio. The gods abandoned. The Watchers Eternal)

These nameless gods disappeared from the world quite near the beginning. Not much is known about them beyond that they were once gods of the Fae. The only surviving member of the Fae gods is the Queen of the Fae and she has not set foot in the material plane since the Dawn of Truths. The Forgotten Family is what the general public of the world is familiar with. They have few shrines built to them in the Great Cities, and are revered more in private by most. The largest exception being inside the Artists Quarter in the City of Glaion where five large shrines were built in their honor. Seen as a celebration of the family one has found rather than the one someone is born with. Generally worshiped as a trio, simultaneously as a single entity. This usually follows a gathering of close friends where they would thank the Forgotten Family for allowing the companions to meet and engage with one another and thus sustaining the friendships they have.
However the Forgotten Family are also seen as gods of great sadness. Despite being depicted differently in local nomenclature, they are always the gods that have been forgotten. Forgotten by whom, however, is unknown. That particular bit of knowledge seems to have been scrubbed from every historical record ever found. Despite a massive effort from the few devoted followers these gods have, no information has ever turned up. Precious few individuals know where the Queen of the Fae is, as many attempts have been made to seek her out. The Devout followers of the Family have spent entire lifetimes trying to pry whatever information they can out of any source possible. Only two known individuals know who and where the Queen is, Gjorn and Odeza. Neither of which are going to tell anyone inquiring much, without being inflicted with the curse of the Silenced Tongues.

Ceremonies

There is a small ceremony some partake in. This is done with a small statue of the three, though these statues are faceless and change shape and ethnicity depending on region, but it is always a trio of three people facing each other with a small basin in the center of the group. This basin will typically hold a small candle that is lit by the friends doing the ceremony. After which the friends will present a letter to the other, typically a written account of how they met or the circumstances surrounding the particular get together for that day. To which these letters are then burned in offering to the Three. This is seen as passing along the values of family having no bounds to the heavens. After which the friends will go on with their business, whether it is a celebration, feast, or any other communal get together.
Subsequently the Forgotten Family is also sought after by those seeking comfort in melancholy states. Those suffering from trauma, mental illness, shock, and the downtrodden are often found praying to the Family. The prayer to the Three is slightly different than the other mentioned in this text, instead of the worshiper giving the letter to another, they write about someone they'd wish to meet. This letter is then offered to the candle flame in the hope that the absent gods will hear their plea and help them find new happiness in the world.
Many marriage ceremonies are held under these gods loving eyes in the Kingdom Of Galus. While those of Huron and Mhuzelt find the practice odd, many in Galus would disagree. For what family is more found than the one you make? To find a wife, husband, partner, to enjoy a life anew in the companionship of the family you choose? One of the most common gods to find that the Tethering spell to be active under, just ahead of Azu: The Raven.

Variant (Dwarven)

The Four Great clans roaming the continent all follow a singular faith. That being the Watchers Eternal, they are the synonymous gods of The Forgotten Family in the Dwarven pantheon. While many of the tenants remain the same, there are few notable differences we must observe. That being that after the fourth King Gjorn returned from some far flung branch of the The Great Tree, he returned with a burning passion for this mostly bygone trio of Deities.
In recent years he revived this dying religion in the Dwarven culture, and has since begun it's slow return back to the Ilse of Mhuzelt. Where the Priests of the Seven Mountains have officially recognized the gods in their own right. However, the biggest, singularly important point that Gjorn has brought back from The Elsewhere where the Fae Queen resides, is their names.
At least names that don't involve the Silenced Tongues, issue. The Trio of gods names are as follows: Villy, Syn and Kin.

Divine Domains

Their domains lie in the realm of the mind. Comeraderie, Companionship, Family. They are the family lost, the friends taken, the happiness forsaken. They comierate with the lost and forgotten, soothe the mind of men in their despair.   They have known Talents in the Domains of Life, Death, Emotion, Earth and Sky.

Tenets of Faith

  1. To show those in need, the compassion they require to heal.
  2. To find those you see as family, and make them such, blood means nothing
  3. Cherish those whom one holds dear, time is a fleeting aspect
  4. (highly disputed) To find the lost gods, and give them the same compassion worshippers feel in life.

Les Trois Sacrés

Or in a rough translation done in the early 800's from a Namoux mural surviving in Skjalich, "The Sacred Three". This depiction is the one adopted by the followers of the Family, and is one of the very few depictions of the Three in ancient times. They appear to have played a much larger role in the pantheon before.

Love all that artwork! Also, good expansions on the article and you also have a full sidebar compared to before, making much better use of all that empty space!   Nice work! Thanks for participating in my unofficial Spring Improvement Challenge!
