Skjalich, Notes by the Empire of Mhuzelt

-Known Ancient Fae Ruin buried since the time of the Dawn of Truths. Recolonized in the last few centuries after a group of human Miners prospecting for metals broke open the main chamber.   -Whole city seems to be buried here, as an interesting note, it's buried under the same ash layer found along the entire Western Vilothric Mountain Range. Odd as far as geologic layers go, there never seems to have been a volcano capable of emitting that amount of ash in the short amount of time the layer exists. I digress, the Ruin is buried in a few hundred feet of ash, built into an old mountain side basin.   -Strange people. They are not Human, Dwarven, or Gnome. Ancient magic is heavy in the air inside the ruins. A faint hum from a woman's voice can be heard at all times. Echoing endlessly. This magic seems to have changed the original prospectors and subsequent travelers as they settled the region to what they appear as now.   -Devout followers of The Forgotten family, and Azu, our dear goddess of beauty, sun and moon.   -Extremely large amethyst deposits in the ruins. Visibly grows when broken or disturbed. A few wealthy merchants have attempted to set up ventures here. The Local people here are fond of what they call "Pretty things", parameters are unknown to what they call pretty. They appear to choose at random. Merchants who trade for the amethyst are exceptionally well received as long as no one tries to enter the ruin without permission. Merchants leave with fortunes worth of gemstones should any trade be made, locals appear to not care about actual monetary value.   -Trespassers are treated harshly and are usually found in the woods surrounding the ruin weeks later. Alive, but covered in deep lacerations and bone deep burns.   -Rumors heard inside the ruins on the few times I was allowed inside. Locals speak of an ancient battlefield, a war of the skies. Eerily reminiscent of The Dawn of Truths. Ghosts can be seen wandering the forests and hills, unidentifiable for species, blank faced. Lost voices echo out in the night, adding to the voice heard inside the ruin.   -Local are an odd juxtaposition of superstitious and suspiciously knowledgeable. Example, they say the malachite deposits on the eastern mountain sides behind the ruins are evidence of immense heat from the area, as malachite is a glassy crystalline mineral requiring both unfathomable heat and pressure to form.   -The Necromancer "Twin Souls" is currently residing in the ruin. Unknown length of stay, refused any inquiry. Apparently Galus is perfectly aware she is here.   -Residents could be defined as hedonistic or debaucherous, perhaps even vain. However, they do truly value beauty in all its forms in their faith in Azu.

Historical Details

Public Reaction

The Galus government ceaced all investigation into the ruin after the report was given. Currently the Military oversees the ruin, allowing only a select few merchants into the red zone for the location. Merchants are hand chosen by the Merchants guild at the Baron of Glaion Lucas Berthelot behest.
