Ygyn was a Grand Elder Cleric who served in the War of the Six. They are one of the confirmed past apprentices of Yso Moroketu.

Personal history
Ygyn was born in Seyis-Gol but traveled extensively. Unbeknownst to many was his controversial siring of a child with an eisorcei of the Hephase Clutch, Akodise, resulting in their exile; their son was born on the 75th Day of the Season of Opening, 978AC. Though Ygyn established a home for them in the outskirts of the capital, they were not treated much better by the residents there. Little else is known of this secret family.
When the War of the Six began in 986AC, Ygyn was convinced to join the Pact of the Blessèd by his friend Jonna Biqare, who extolled the Pact's mission to put down the inhumane and heinous Violet Accord. Ygyn rapidly became one of their most valuable assets and was a well-respected leader of their Clerics. However, when the Plague of the Bitter Hand was released compasison compelled him to spend extensive time with both factions in a humanitarian capacity -- he served tirelessly despite his mounting moral crisis and fear for the continent as a whole, as the plague showed no signs of relenting.
In the Season of Opening, 990AC, an overworked Ygyn made a careless mistake treating a plague victim and experienced a backflow, resulting in his contracting of the plague himself. Knowing Balaqalneyis was barely avoiding the pandemic and not wishing to risk conveying it there much less to his family, he instead offered himself for study to the Physicias Eburos, Martus and Biae, who used his unique insight to refine medicines and work toward a cure.
When he was deemed non-contagious Ygyn risked returning to his family; Ghun was beginning to see isolated cases and still the plague showed no signs of slowing. The fate of Ygyn and his family thereafter was unknown until many years later, when it came to light that the family attempted to flee the capital and in the process, the Dawnseekers recognized him as carrying the plague. Without knowing who he was, in the hysteria of the time Ygyn was promptly burnt alive. His partner was reported as having fled the city with a young boy, but it was never confirmed.
