Seyis-Gol Organization in The Fruit of War | World Anvil

Seyis-Gol (Say-ISS-goll)

The southeasternmost country of Icalar, with the smallest amount of workable land but its western half largely dominated by river and swamp, and the only geographical point where the rivers fall from the tuya into the abyss (earning its moniker of "The Land of Falls", especially due to the Three Tails). Most of its population live in permanent settlements, the majority of which are built in tiers to maximize workable land. Most industry is focused around the capital, Accatren, for easier access to trade routes. It remained largely neutral during the War of the Six, with its only involvement being the attempted Seizing of the Ice Child, and otherwise tends to keep to itself.   It is governed by the Nauhnas, a hereditary constitutional monarchy that can trace its lineage and its simple constitution back to the earliest histories of the country when there was little but isolated tribes.

Culture

Flag:
The country's flag is a white waxing crescent with violet border as base; shaman’s staff in violet in center.   Architecture:
What dwellings aren't built on surface-level tiers are built into the surrounding rock, and completely subterranean settlements are not uncommon. Accatren, for example, is primarily underground. Tops of natural plateaus are reserved for ritualistic use and kept as close to their natural state as possible. Bridges linking the sides of gorges and other rock formations are ubiquitous, and living in the bottom of a gorge/ravine is rare unless it is very wide. Murals painted onto the rock -- both in inhabited spaces and elsewhere -- are common.   Anthropology:
Gols believe their land as a divine wound, and therefore that they should embody the wound symbolically in order to display humbleness. Consequently bruise colors and red are popular in fashion, murals, and homes.

Demography and Population

Seyis-Gol is also the most sparsely-populated of all the Icalaran countries, with large swathes of uninhabited territory. Many klatuut live in their own settlements in the river deltas but rarely integrate with larger Gol society. Otherwise, there is a modest eova population (owing to their claim of the country being their ancestral stomping-grounds), and humans and fauns make up the majority. Nae'cthosai are rare.   Temporary residents, however, are common due to pilgrimages to the Three Tails (waterfalls) in the south.

Territories

There is some contention over full territorial ownership of the Three Tails, especially the Sheilaris and the Thusutalis.

Military

Because of its general neutrality and self-imposed isolation -- along with its low population -- there is no single military system.

Technological Level

Largely focused on their mining and jewelcrafting industries.

Religion

Belief in and reliance on mistspeakers of the Cradle of Mists is by far the most prevalent belief in Seyis-Gol, though its kin, Sehndism, has a mild foothold in Accatren. All other beliefs are practically nonexistent. This makes the presence of the Communion of the Sublime Fall -- an Order of the Burning Crown sect -- in the southwesternmost corner particularly rankling, no matter how much it keeps to itself.

Foreign Relations

Pre-War: Friendly terms with all other countries, no trade or travel restrictions
Wartime: Friendly terms with all other countries, no trade or travel restrictions
Post-War, Plague Active: Immense travel restrictions and certain trade restrictions, but cooperative terms with all countries
Post-War, Plague Recessive: Friendly terms with all countries, former trade and travel restrictions relaxing

Agriculture & Industry

They have the largest viable mines of all the countries and as such, mining-related products are their primary export. They also make great use of the waterways in unique forging and jewelcrafting processes.

Trade & Transport

Most trade is done via river, but there is also a single road to Hakal Post on Balaqalneyis' southern border.   Seyis-Gol attempts -- and largely succeeds in -- remaining self-sufficient and as such, tries to minimize trade.

Education

Homeschooling is dominant; there are very few if any organized educational structures and most of these are in Accatren.
