- Aubrey was born to Harrison Kane and Lauren Kelsall on the 18th of September, 3302. His childhood was generally a happy one; his father caring and grandmother doting, the three of them were a prime example of a model family on The Iris.
- Since birth, practically, Aubrey was best friends with the children of the other Commanders: Cassie Elliott and Wayne White . They were the promising next generation of Commanders to be.
- When Aubrey was right, he was approached by Nasya O'Connell, who came forward with a proposition that Aubrey could help out his father.
- And at that point, Aubrey trusts Nasya who is a Commander at that time. She tricks him into comminting a lengthy list of crimes and once Aubrey realises what's happened, it's too late and Nasya has leverage on him.
- That same year, he was introduced to Corey Anson.
- Corey, at fourteen, was an older boy, Nasya's subject that was supposed to overlook Aubrey's training and their future jobs.
- The two of them ran an experimental duo unit. In the meantime, accidentally, they grew to be really close friends.
- Aubrey immediately took kindly to Corey's warmth and gentleness. His entire person was built for interactions with other people and Aubrey wasn't much different from others in the sense that he fell in love with who Corey was on the inside.
- The two of them formed a deep friendship despite their age difference, where they learned to rely on each other in their dire circumstances

Unlike others who certainly loathe Nasya as the Leader, Aubrey’s emotional numbness prevents him from feeling the full extent of hatred one would expect. His predominant emotion towards her is fear—a profound, all-encompassing fear that stems from years of manipulation and blackmail.
Since Aubrey was eight, Diana coerced him into obedience, which left him haunted by memories of her control and the knowledge of her power over him.
Diana’s ability to strip Aubrey of his autonomy, to make him act against his will, terrifies him more than any physical danger. This fear has deeply ingrained itself in his psyche, shaping his actions and reactions.

Corey taught Aubrey most of the skills the latter needed to have under Nasya's “leadership”. Corey was interested in anything that Aubrey came to him with; Aubrey tried and failed to follow Corey's interests.

History
Harrison took on the responsibility of raising Aubrey alone after Lauren, his partner, did not want the child; Aubrey knew that he had a mother just as he also knew that she wanted nothing to do with him. Their relationship started to strain after Aubrey joined the Thieve's Faction; he found himself lying to his father more and more, had befriended Corey and multiple other people that were significantly older than him, and so the relationship started to deteriorate. As of the year 3321, the two of them hadn't talked for four years, since Aubrey had been put in solitary confinement. And rules are rules, Harrison knows and respects that more than anyone.
Relationship Reasoning
Their relationship is difficult, however, Aubrey sees Harrison as the highest authority figure. Higher than the Commander of Security, higher than the Leader. That's his father, Commander Kane. Aubrey regards him with such deep, profound respect that it genuinely broke him when he was arrested and his crimes were made public. He felt like a disappointment; like a stain on their family name. Cassie was one of Aubrey’s best friends since childhood, part of an inseparable trio along with Wayne. But things began to change as Aubrey joined the Faction. The turning point in their relationship came when Cassie witnessed Corey breaking into Wayne's quarters on the station. Concerned and convinced she was doing the right thing, Cassie reported him to the Commander of Security, leading to Corey's arrest and execution. Aubrey hadn't been able to look at her since. (literally and figuratively, as he's currently serving in solitary)
History
Wayne was one of Aubrey's best friends since childhood, part of an inseparable trio along with Cassie. Things began to change when Aubrey was forced to join the Thieves’ Faction and grew closer to Corey. Wayne was always worried about the age gap between Aubrey and Corey. He didn’t trust the older man, he thought he was coercing Aubrey. That he was grooming him. When Corey died, the bond between Aubrey and Wayne shattered completely. A year after Corey’s death, Aubrey was arrested too and placed in solitary confinement, cutting off all communication between him and Wayne; who had been trying since to get his father (Commander of Security) to bend the rules for him.
