Harrison Kane
Harrison Samuel Kane (a.k.a. Commander Kane)
The Commander of Intelligence is cold, calculating and truly believes he does what he has to, to protect the human race. He's uncompromising and professional, unafraid to make difficult choices.
After all, one person for the salvation of many is a small price to pay.
Mental characteristics
Education
Harrison has worked hard for his position as the Commander of Intelligence. He had studied cybernetics, behavioural psychology, and military strategy to fully prepare himself and ensure his election.
Employment
His early career saw him rapidly gain fame with the people of Fortrop. They loved his ideas, his plans and strategies; how dedicated he seemed to be to the people.
Intellectual Characteristics
Harrison is exceptionally intelligent, with a mind adept at pattern recognition, strategic planning, and critical analysis. He has an almost uncanny ability to anticipate threats and counter them before they manifest. His approach is highly logical, often valuing data and empirical evidence over emotional considerations.
Morality & Philosophy
Harrison’s philosophy centres on pragmatism and utilitarianism. He believes in the greater good of the human race and is willing to make difficult, often morally ambiguous decisions to ensure its survival. He sees individual lives as secondary to the collective welfare, a perspective that shapes his, often ruthless, methods.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Harrison is driven by a deep-seated desire to protect humanity at all costs. This motivation is rooted in a personal conviction that he alone possesses the clarity and fortitude to make the hard choices necessary for the survival of the species.
His love for Aubrey is his one significant personal attachment, grounding him and occasionally tempering his nature.
Social
Family Ties
Harrison’s relationship with his son Aubrey is... difficult with Aubrey (as of the year 3317) being in solitary confinement. He does love his son, however it rarely showed in the way Harrison might've intended it.
Harrison’s relationship with his mother, Rose, is fraught with tension. They argue often because of how different their views on politics/ priorities are.
Social Aptitude
Whether it's a certain charisma or not, people are definitely afraid of him. He is able to project confidence and authority but not necessarily in others.
He is supremely confident in his abilities and decisions, often bordering on arrogance. This confidence is both a strength and a weakness as Harrison does truly believe that his way is the only way, and that everyone else is simply too weak to make difficult decisions.
Ego? Inflated.
While not particularly extroverted, Harrison is capable of effective communication and persuasion when necessary. He prefers to operate behind the scenes, letting his actions and results speak for themselves.
He is aware he's not exactly well-liked.
Relationships
History
Harrison took on the responsibility of raising Aubrey alone after Lauren, his partner, did not want the child; Aubrey knew that he had a mother just as he also knew that she wanted nothing to do with him. Their relationship started to strain after Aubrey joined the Thieve's Faction; he found himself lying to his father more and more, had befriended Corey and multiple other people that were significantly older than him, and so the relationship started to deteriorate. As of the year 3321, the two of them hadn't talked for four years, since Aubrey had been put in solitary confinement. And rules are rules, Harrison knows and respects that more than anyone.
Relationship Reasoning
Their relationship is difficult, however, Aubrey sees Harrison as the highest authority figure. Higher than the Commander of Security, higher than the Leader. That's his father, Commander Kane. Aubrey regards him with such deep, profound respect that it genuinely broke him when he was arrested and his crimes were made public. He felt like a disappointment; like a stain on their family name. (He still does)
