Corey Anson

Corey Felix Anson (a.k.a. Fist)

Mental characteristics

Education

Corey's education was unconventional and largely self-directed due to his circumstances. Born into the lowest class on Eir Station, he did not have access to formal education systems designed for higher-status individuals. However, his intellect and curiosity drove him to seek knowledge wherever he could find it.

Corey taught himself the basics of engineering, mathematics, and science by scavenging old textbooks, manuals, and any data he could access. He was a frequent visitor to the station’s library and made friends with some of the more approachable scientists and engineers.

Corey’s real education came from hands-on experience. He spent countless hours tinkering with machines, repairing broken equipment, and designing small inventions. This practical knowledge, combined with his theoretical understanding, made him a highly skilled engineer at a young age

Employment

From a very young age, Corey took on small repair jobs within his class, fixing household items, electronics, and eventually more complex machinery. His reputation grew, and he became known as the go-to person for technical issues

By the age of 10, Corey’s skills were undeniable. He was recruited by Joshua Elliott, the head of engineering at the time. Despite his age, he quickly proved himself indispensable, earning the respect of his older colleagues.

By his mid-teens, Corey had taken on the role of Communications Officer. In this position, he was responsible for managing and maintaining the station’s communication systems, ensuring reliable internal and external communications.

Just before the age of 20, Corey also became the Deputy Engineering Officer. In this capacity, he assisted the Chief Engineer in overseeing the maintenance and development of the station’s infrastructure.

More informally, at the age of 8 he was recurited by Nasya into what would later become the Thieves' Faction. Over the years he rose to the position of second-in-command there.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Corey's primary motivation was being the person others could turn to. He strove to use his skills and knowledge to help those around him, often taking on burdens to make life easier for others. His natural curiosity and desire to do the right thing also drove his actions. The core motivation, however, was his sense of responsibility towards others.

He liked being relied on, knowing that he could solve the problems people come up to him with. He knew he could've been the change and so, he wanted to be.

History

The two of them had met in the Thieves' Faction; the Leader (Nasya) made them into an experimental duo unit. A partnership where the stakes were their lives. Initiallly, Corey was supposed to overlook Aubrey's training and their future jobs. However, unexpectedly, the two of them grew to be really close friends.

Nicknames & Petnames

A few months after meeting, Corey started referring to Aubrey as "Ace"

Commonalities & Shared Interests

Corey taught Aubrey most of the skills the latter needed to have under Nasya's “leadership”. That included (but wasn’t limited to) hand-to-hand fighting, basic first aid, sneak sleight-of-hand, as well as the knowledge of the inner workings of the Fortrop and the Faction.   Corey was interested in anything that Aubrey came to him with; Aubrey tried and failed to follow Corey's interests.

Shared Secrets

They have a set of 70 hand signals and code words, that only they know, they use on their jobs sometimes.

Wealth & Financial state

Corey's class, by birth, was lower working; but his skills and positions elevated his status to upper middle. Having no real family, he didn't have any dependencies other than himself.

He had a few personal assets, focused on tools and equipment for his work. He did sometimes buy those but, more often that not, would've kept his old ones until they physically couldn't be used anymore.

Any investments were modest and practical, aimed at long-term stability rather than wealth accumulation.
