Thieves' Faction
Structure
- Nasya O'Connell - The Leader and the mastermind behind the faction's operations and controls her subjects through a combination of coercion, threats, and blackmail.
- Corey Anson - Nasya's right hand and the first recruit. Corey was chosen for his engineering brilliance and ability to orchestrate complex heists. He serves as the main strategist and planner, ensuring the faction’s operations run smoothly.
Lieutenants:
Responsible for overseeing various aspects of the faction’s operations. They report directly to the Leader and Second-in-Command. Each lieutenant specialises in a different area, such as logistics, intelligence, and enforcement
- Logistics: Manages the movement of stolen goods, safe houses, and resources
- Intelligence: Handles information gathering, surveillance, and hacking operations
- Enforcement: Ensures loyalty and discipline within the faction, dealing with internal threats and external enemies
Cell Leaders:
Each lieutenant oversees several cell leaders who manage small, independent groups of thieves. This cell structure ensures that if one group is compromised, the rest of the faction remains safe. Cell leaders are experienced operatives who execute specific missions and report back to their respective lieutenant.
Operatives:
The rank-and-file members who carry out the actual thefts, espionage, and other illicit activities. They operate under the command of cell leaders and are often kept in the dark about the broader goals of the faction to maintain secrecy.
Recruits/ Initiates:
New members who are in the process of proving their loyalty and skills. They undergo rigorous training and are closely monitored before becoming full-fledged operatives.
Culture
The faction's existence is a closely guarded secret, even among its members. Operatives often only know their cell and immediate tasks to minimise risk. Members are bound by a strict code of silence. Betrayal or failure to adhere to the code is met with severe consequences (most often death). Advancement within the faction is based on skill, loyalty, and results. This creates a highly competitive environment where operatives strive to prove their worth. (throwing others under the bus for your own benefit is a very common thing)
Given the nature of the faction and the methods Nasya uses to control her subjects, there is a pervasive atmosphere of distrust and paranoia. Members are constantly wary of being watched or betrayed; rightfully so, because they are.
The faction values ingenuity and adaptability. Members are encouraged to come up with creative solutions to problems and think on their feet. If you can't do that, you're not a good fit for the faction, and if you've been swept up in one too many heists, the Leader might just get rid of you.
Public Agenda
Nasya's ultimate goal is to consolidate power within the Fortrop for herself.
She aims to overthrow the current government not to liberate the people but to place herself in a position of absolute authority. She seeks to control key resources and information, using them as leverage to manipulate and dominate others.
History
Everything stared with Corey Anson's recruitment. Nasya recognised Corey's potential and manipulated him into breaking the law by promising him an access to upper class knowledge vaults. Once Corey committed the crime, Nasya used this as leverage to ensure his loyalty, making it clear there was no leaving or turning back.
With Corey under her control, Nasya utilised his skills to orchestrate the faction’s initial operations. They started with small-scale thefts and acts of sabotage, which helped build the faction's resources and reputation.
Corey’s expertise in technology and systems allowed the faction to establish secure communication networks and operational protocols, ensuring secrecy and efficiency.
As the faction grew, Nasya focused on recruiting individuals with specific skills necessary for their operations. Each new member was similarly coerced into joining, often through blackmail or manipulation, ensuring their loyalty.
To maintain security and minimise risk, the faction adopted a cell structure. This compartmentalised information, meaning members knew only their immediate tasks and contacts, protecting the broader organisation if one cell was compromised.
The faction began executing more daring and high-profile heists, targeting key government facilities and resource depots. These operations not only increased the faction’s wealth but also destabilised the regime. Alongside theft, the faction engaged in sabotage, disrupting the operations of the Fortrop’s government and military.
