Order of Sekhrem-Ra

The Order of Sekhrem-Ra hold an unique and dominant position within Y'Matara's governing structure. They serve not merely as law enforcers, but as agents of divine order - representing the will of the Pharaoh in all civic matters. Their authority stretches across all classes and castes, particularly in the lower districts where dissent and unrest are most feared.   The sigil of the Order of Sekhem-Ra is a phoenix-winged sun, encircled by a ring of flame and set above a descending sword. It is always rendered in brass, blood-red, and searing orange.   Templars wear crimson and gold plate adorned with etched fire motifs and the mask of the Pharaoh. High-ranking priests wear long vestments stitched with bronze thread, bearing the phoenix-sun over their hearts.

Structure

The Order of Sekhrem-Ra is divided into two primary arms:
  • The Flamebound Host: These are the paladins and warrior monks of the Order. Trained in military tactics and divine combat, they patrol the city streets, serve as elite bodyguards, and lead military expeditions against rebellious threats or incursions.
  • The Embered Priesthood: Comprising clerics, inquistors, and divine orcales, this branch oversees law, ritual, spiritual judgement, and punishment. They preside over the Shrines of the Scarab, court hearings, read omens, interpret the will of Sethet-Ka, and lead public rites.

Ranks

The leader of the Order of Skehrem-Ra is the High Priest-General.

Judicial Role

The Embered Priesthood presides over religious and civil tribunals, determining guilt and delivering sentences. These trials are held in open forums before the Royal Ziggurat of Heka-Sar or in court-chambers draped in flamecloth and judged by a presiding Pyromant. Issued sentences are deemed to be sanctioned by the divine will of Sethet-Ka.

Militarised Policing

Blades of Sekhrem patrol Y'Matara in groups of ten. They are trained to suppress uprisings swiftly and symbolically - choosing spectacle and fear over force wherever possible. In times of peace, their presence alone is considered a deterrent.

Advisory to the Throne

The High Priest-General sits on the Pharaoh's inner council (The Vizier's Council) and interprets omens, advises on divine legitimacy, and overseas matters of state security. No foreign emissary may be recieved without the Order first conducting ritual purification.
