Lauris Settlement in The Empty Throne | World Anvil

Lauris

At A Glance

LAURIS is a village on the shores of the Sea of Winds where it narrows towards Brynwall. The coastline and surrounding area is fairly sandy and rocky which drives most of the town's activity towards fishing either through coastal boats or shore-netting. The population is fairly alert given their proximity to the coast and the occasional raids that are attempted on their homes.

Due to the frequency of raids that ebb and flow from year to year, the village has been built primarily with rock except for the outlying clusters. However, it has few exterior defenses and relies instead on their proximity to Brynwall and the men-at-arms employed by their lord. In deference to the village's position, the village is not required to provide more than one Knight but has increased foot soldier obligations.

Defences

The village has minimal defenses although there is an elevated stand just outside the village and nearer to the coast for an early warning of raiders. In addition, the Heltower's bells also act to warn the village of danger looming nearby.

GARRISON
The village has 2-Hobilars who act as mounted messengers when warning of an attack is received. In addition, the village hosts fifteen (15) foot soldiers and (5) men-at-arms for defense.
