Personal history

Born the son of a mercenary knight, Kenil's father came into the service of the old Eorl Brynagar at the onset of the Struggles. His father, newly married to a common woman and her being pregnant, needed to put down roots. His father served well enough in the Eorl's service to be brought in as a Sworn Knight for the Eorl. This allowed Kenil to be raised as a knight in the Eorl's household. Kenil was sent away to Shields as a page to foster neighborly relations. He was squired to a Free Lord from the south.

Ser Kenil was knighted by the old Eorl in 39 ET and inducted as a Sworn Knight into the Eorl's Household. The next year, he made a minor name for himself by pursuing an injustice and rooting out the true cause. He was dispatched for the next eighteen months out of the Eorldom on unknown purposes by the Eorl. He was briefly in the Overlands where rumors point to some bad blood with a nobleman there.

In 42 ET, he was granted permission to marry a commoner. Although, his marriage was originally arranged, it has become a story told by others as love, True Love, has blossomed over the years. His wife, Nuthia of Lauris, has been faithful and loving although the couple struggled to have children. It has only been in the past couple years that she was able to give birth to a son. It is rumored to be unlikely that she will survive another pregnancy. This only has made their love story more common amongst the smallfolk.

Ser Kenil fought well in the Battle of Westwood but was injured such that he spent sometime in recovery. He also fought in the 2nd Battle of Swanhold and managed to get the furthest of the Eorlsmen before the retreat was sounded. In 47 ET, for his heroics and his reputation for truthfulness and integrity, he was gifted the fief of Lauris by the old Eorl for his lifetime.

Since that time, Ser Kenil has amassed a reputation as a true Eorlsman, loyal and blunt, his honesty is a double-edged sword but is coupled with his honor to make him a role model for squires and knights here and in neighboring lands. He has curtailed his adventures somewhat in order to serve the new Eorl better by remaining closer to home but, every now and then, injustice does call. In 51 ET, it is known that he rode north to defend the honor of a Knight accused in the court of Between-The-Waters. His word and sword stopped an injustice from happening for it is said that the knight was innocent of the charge.
