Dummy
A "Dummy" is the term for a rookie battler, it is used in a derogatory sense, it has grown to the point that it gained a secondary meaning of "weakling, meak, pushover, etc.". It was used because rookie battlers would often be matched up against more expereinced fighters and battlers in order for them to show off their strength, using rookies as essentially manikins to beat up.
Qualifications
One has to gain the job of a battler and have won less then 10 tournaments against more expereinced fighters.
Requirements
One must be whatever age is considered a legal adult for your species, (at least for professional arenas). And have completed several courses on diverse battle techniques along with a final test against an industry favored or "star" dummy (or in some cases "living manikin) who is used to test rather or not an aplicant should be given the job or not.
Appointment
One must win a battle against a "Star Dummy" after taking several other courses and tests on battling as a whole. One will typically get appointed to rookie or "dummy" by one's coach, who will typically send an e-mail within 24 hours to confirm that one has in fact, gotten the job.
Duties
To offer up oneself to tournaments to fight against more expereinced fighters and battlers.
Responsibilities
Dummies are sent out into tournaments to battle various other battlers.
Benefits
Getting payed around 15 gp per hour, maybe the social status of being a battler if your lucky.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Little to none, battlers battle without outside armor or weapons, relying on what they have natrually instead.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
If one wins ten tournament battles with no signs winning of cheating, sheer luck or outside influence, then one is promoted to Fighter.
Cultural Significance
Most Elementals see this rank of battler as being made of hopeful rookies who will get weeded out until only the best of them are left and promoted, with the process repeated until only the strongest of battlers are left.
