Overview of Yyradayn
Yyradayn is a continent that spans 5,800,000 square miles (15.0 million square kilometers). Yyradayn is the westernmost of the continents in the Old World- that is, all continents excluding Yehv and Namarin. Its closest neighbor continentally is Ifyrial, with the two almost touching the Sel-Katin strait. Yyradayn is considered to be a high magical zone and is mostly populated by Dark Elves, Kymrai, Vntokai, and Rayisudi. Most of Yyradayn's history can be categorized into pre-calamity and post-calamity. The Great Calamity was so devastating, in fact, that many civilizations also use a similar dating system, including the widespread GSC (Gnomish Standard Calendar. The population of Yyradayn is much different from the pre-calamity days, as formerly minor races such as the Rayisudi have risen to prominence while other have been driven to eradication from the continent due to the climate's changes. At the current year, Yyradayn can be technologically compared to the Ancient Age. That is not to say that no civilizations have ever existed on Yyradayn, rather the Great Calamity erased most records, technology, and centralized governments, leaving Yyradayn in a medieval post-apocalyptic society. Consequentially, most of the continent has little contact with the outside world, as they have little of value to trade. The majority of the continent's interaction with outsiders is through the Dark Elven colonies aiming to reclaim their old lands, which its citizens are highly hostile to. Yyradayn is a harsh and hard continent to survive in, and outside competition is not welcome. However, the continent's resources, mostly untapped in two thousand years, alongside the poor state of technology, makes it a potentially attractive location for colonies, if the hostile environment can be overcome.
