Mig Dural

Mig Dural is a trading city and Miennach's second largest settlement (after Ironstar). Its streets busy with wealthy townspeople, merchants, and travellers, one is always guaranteed to find what they are looking for here. It was built early in the second century CY, meaning to be the symbol of a fresh start for many after the horrors of the War of Frost. Dubbed the City of Hope, it grew to become one of Syoll's largest cities. Originally a city belonging to the Kesavan Hold, Mig Dural and its satellite Titan's Hand became Miennach's third hold after Amridge gained independence in 411.   The leadership of Mig Dural has always been less consistent than in its other Miennan counterparts. While the mining settlements like Ironstar, Kesava and Eskard are usually controlled by wealthy, mine-owning families, Mig Dural has always kept true to Syoll's democracy. The position of Steward, Mig Dural's Triad Representative, has fluctuated between members of the Fighters', Merchants' or Arcanists' Guilds. In 1411, however, the position was unexpectedly won by Riskell Bellowbrand.   After the arrival of the Formidable Disparates in 1411 CY, a revolution was sparked and Riskell was toppled from his seat, giving power back to the three main guilds. But this peace did not last long, since shortly after, Mig Dural was overrun and annexed by Kesava, bringing it under the power of Magnus Bellowbrand.

Industry and Trade

Through its proximity to both Titan's Hand and the border to Colliennach, Mig Dural was a hotspot for trade and commerce. It does not particularly produce any unique exports, instead collecting most of its profits from travellers passing through and the selling of Miennan as well as Colliennan products. Another portion of its wealth comes directly from the trade taxes collected at Titan's Hand.

Guilds and Factions

Mig Dural has many guilds and factions within its walls, however, the three largest ones are the Merchant’s Guild, the Arcanist’s Guild, and the Fighter’s Guild. As Mig Dural is a city built on trade and craftsmanship, there are vast amounts of craft guilds of various sizes. It is hard to find a person in Mig Dural who has never been affiliated with any faction in their life. While some guilds get along very well, there have been many conflicts (large and small) throughout the city's history.

"My life has been centered around travellers and salespeople, isolated in the barren hills, hearing stories of green forests or snow-covered lands. Mig Dural may not boast beautiful landscapes or rich culture, but instead its identity lies in the people passing through."
