Jlosa

Jlosa is considered the shining example of how to rebuild after Ahgu's Slayer. Despite the government's ineffective response and the subsequent revolution, the citizens of Jlosa worked together and rebuilt their city from the rubble. Now it's thriving again a symbol of the endurance of the Kohrin people.

Demographics

Like the vast majority of Kohrin cities, Jlosa's population is mostly farmers, fishers, merchants, and sailors.

Government

Like the central government of Kohri, Jlosa is ran by those who have shown the right knowledge. The government appoints a mayor of the town from government officials who have passed the required testing and are of high enough rank. The officials that assist the mayor in their duties are a mixture of other government officials and locals who have shown that they are capable, knowledgeable people.

Defences

After the hurricane, a sea wall has been erected to help protect the majority of the city from future hurricanes.

Industry & Trade

Much of the exports are raw materials farmed or collected from the area. While some products are made in the city the majority of final products are imported from other lands.

Infrastructure

Large farm fields stretch out from the city's outskirts, docks stretch towards the sea, homes, shops, restaurants, storehouses, and religious buildings make up the rest of the city. Shrines to Sovereign Zinnayas are common in Jlaso and there is a large temple dedicated to her near the docks. There are still a few shelters, large buildings where homeless people could find shelter, left from the rebuilding process in the city.

History

Jlaso was a thriving city long before Ahgu's Slayer hit its shores. The hurricane demolished most of the city leaving the docks and hundreds of houses and businesses destroyed. The citizens rallied together to begin making repairs which was especially crucial since the government sent little to no aid. While many citizens did go to fight in the revolution, even more stayed behind to rebuild their home.

Using salvageable material from the old buildings as well as any materials they could gather themselves the citizens of Jlosa started the slow process of rebuilding. After years of work, the city was finally rebuilt and materials from other sovereignties were arriving to help the temples, government buildings, and a few noble villas to their old grandeur. Now the city is back to its old glory and is held as the shining example of how to rebuild.

Architecture

Most buildings are multistory and made of wood. Small windows, shutters, and white painted wood helps keep buildings cool. Many buildings proudly display areas that are obviously bits pieced together from the time of rebuilding. Buildings are decorated with paint, native plants, and wood carvings.
