Ahgu's Slayer

The name is a bit over dramatic sure, but it's true enough.
— Salun, historian

This powerful hurricane is referred to as Aghu's Slayer for the role it played in the fall of the Aghu Sovereignty. While the sovereignty had been struggling with issues of corruption for some time, the hurricane laid these issues bare. The storm carved a wide path of destruction up the coastlines of the sovereignty's two main islands, destroying buildings and lives alike. The government response was considered by many people to be slow and inefficient.

Governmental officials struggled to send aid to the many citizens in need of it and seemed far more interested in repairing its own buildings first. There are some reports that a few government officials even tried to take advantage of the storm as a way to grow their own personal wealth. Its wide range of destruction as well as the government's inefficiency gave both commoners and nobles alike a reason to revolt. The old regime crumpled easily leaving a new sovereignty to rise amidst the destruction.

Manifestation

I saw the sea swallow up entire homes, I saw the wind easily tear buildings apart, I saw people drown, starve, and crushed. But most importantly: I saw the government stand by and do nothing.
— Natel, leader of the Kohri Revolution and first Proven Sovereign

The hurricane caused heavy flooding, harsh winds, lots of rain, and quite a few tornadoes. Hundreds of buildings and fields were destroyed either by winds, tornadoes, or flooding. It left a huge streak of destruction around it that took over a decade to repair. In addition to the massive amount of property damage dealt, there were many people that lost their lives or were wounded during the storm.

After Aghu's Slayer, many people still lost their lives because of the storm from food shortages, complications from injuries, or unsafe areas created by the hurricane. Some people also consider those that died during the Kohri Revolution part of the storm's body count. In the rebuilding that followed, the sovereignty's lost a lot of its northern territory and had to fight hard to reclaim and keep it.

Localization

Aghu's Slayer first swept along the coast of Nisea, the southernmost main island. It then regained strength traveling across the ocean to Slusa, the northernmost main island. The hurricane also swept across several smaller islands creating destruction there.
